| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Aug 17, 2008 22 oz bottle pours a very black with a rich tan head, diminishing slowly. focused bitter and roasty aroma, with hints of cocoa and green hops, and a tiny bit of alcohol apparent in the nose. creamy oatmeal only appears in the body - dominated by roast and bitterness. tingly acidic finish of coffee and unsweetened cocoa, and unfortunately it’s mostly underwhelming. becomes harsh and it’s almost a chore to finish all 22 oz. fidel (941), Livermore, California, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jul 7, 2008 650 ml bottle from Bev4less. Pours a high viscosity opaque black with an ample tan head that soon faded. The aroma was moderate in strength with mocha, chocolate, roasted malts and a whiff of alcohol. The flavor featured well burnt malts that had a chocolaty character, dark fruits and good bitterness. Also, in taste there was a bit of hot alcohol. The mouthfeel was creamy, full and smooth. The finish was long with lingering bitter dark chocolate. Overall: The alcohol showing thru was a bit distracting at first, but soon became unnoticeable as I finished the bottle. Other than that, great concoction. tennisjoel (941), Shakopee, Minnesota, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Aug 19, 2008 22 oz. bomber picked up at Woodmans in Madison, WI. Pour is dark black with a thin tan head. Very nice aroma of chocolate, coffee, vanilla, cocoa. Easy drinking for the strength here. Silky smooth palate, rich, with a bitter finish. Unlike a lot of Stone’s beers, I do not detect a ton of hops used here. Not my favorite Stone beer, but not bad by any means. BeerBelcher (940), Columbus, Ohio, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 31, 2008 Beer poured black and opaque into a tulip...not a lot of head here. Aroma is medium-intensity, with some nice burned-pizza crust roastiness, chocolate, and with an oatmeal quality. Flavor was a nice blend of chocolate, which wasn’t overpowering, and a good degree of dark malt roasty. Hides its ABV dangerously well; felt like I could’ve drank two bombers of the stuff. Very drinkable for the ImpStout style.
Very good - I would recommend. I bought this bottle at Discount Liquor on Oklahoma Ave in Milwaukee. shawnm213 (935), South Bend, Indiana, USA

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 6, 2008 The pour was expectedly dark with an off-white head that was creamy and produced good lacing. The aroma was lots of dry baking chocolate, roasted malt and light sweetness. The flavor was dry, dark chocolate with toasted oats. The mouthfeel was bone ass dry. Nice. Could have used a touch more sweetness in the flavor to balance it out, but overall it was very good.
