The aroma was lots of dry baking chocolate, roasted malt and light sweetness. The flavor was dry, dark chocolate with toasted oats. The mouthfeel was bone ass dry. Nice. Could have used a touch more sweetness in the flavor to balance it out, but overall it was very good. LooseCannon (930), Norfolk, Virginia, USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Jul 19, 2008 I wanted to give this another flavor point, but it seems unfinished to me. The bitter chocolate is nice - and the oatmeal base is quite smooth - but it lacks depth! From the first sip I maintained that this brew needed some time in some oak, and that stayed true through the end of the bottle. Could use some coffee as an alternative. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 2, 2008 Poured from a 22oz bomber and served in a snifter. This stout poured an opaque black with a thin head of dark tan foam. Decent lacing. The aroma of the beer was made up of bittersweet chocolate, toasted oats, and a bit of fresh coffee. The flavor included charred malts, bittersweet chocolate, oats, caramel, and a hint of dark fruit. The alcohol was well hidden. The mouthfeel was full-bodied and smooth. Light carbonation. Pretty tasty. VTHopHead (920), Barre, Vermont, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Oct 31, 2009 Bottle/22 - Pours a very dark, oily black in color with a small dark tan head that quickly faded to a very thin covering over the beer. Aroma is very heavy with dark roasted malts, smoky malts, dark chocolate and some alcohol. Flavor is quite bitter, very strong of dark chocolate and espresso. Very thick and chewy... few beers have this palate! Some alcohol in the profile, but not overwhelming. Awesome Brew! topherh (915), Kearney, Missouri, USA
