Flavor was very boozy with a good chunk of bitter chocolate and a bit of toffee. Watery mouthfeel killed it a bit. walleye (882), Sterling Heights, Michigan, USA

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 16, 2008 Pours black with tannish head. Flavor is all chocolate bitterness. It hits that part of your tongue that lights up when you eat dark chocolate - and kind of buzzes around there for a while. In the nose there are notes of chocolate, of course, but also anise, raisins and a little bit of sesame. Naven (878), Poway, California, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Jul 10, 2008 22 oz bottle from Bevmo. Deep, rich, oily black color. Aroma is burnt chocolate and coffee. Flavor is exactly as the description reads: Bitter chocolate is the dominant flavor. This would be world class if the alcohol was so dominant. This should age incredibly though. | 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 15/20 | Dec 1, 2008 Pours black with a thick brown head. Smells more toasted and smoked than sweet or bitter chocolate. Slight alcohol smell, too. Taste is smooth and creamy and more sweet chocolate than bitter. Surprisingly easy drinking and just sweet enough. glennmastrange (866), hobe sound, Florida, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Nov 28, 2008 Bottle. Moderate malt aromas of burnt, molasses and dark chocolate, light perfume and meat for the hops and yeast, with smoke, alcohol and almond in the background. Head is frothy brown (which gets lighter as it settles) with fair lacing and is mostly diminishing. Color is black. Flavor starts moderatelt sweet and lightly acidic, then finishes lightly acidic and moderate to heavily bitter. Palate is medium to full, dry and has a soft carbonation. It finishes moderatley alcoholic. I really liked the boldness of this Imperial Stout. It was rich and well rounded. sheatripper (863), Brooklyn, New York, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 17, 2009 Bomber. Poured standard brown-black but with little head action. Chocolate and espresso nose. Dark bittersweet chocolate flavor with a nice roasty, almost charred coffee edge. Not exceptionally hoppy. Some traces of dark fruit underneath. Full and smooth bodied. Very comforting.
