Served in tumbler- poured like motor oil out of a ’81 Chevy Citation, low-medium carbonation of tiny bubbles, whisps of thin tan wafers for a head. Aroma of a heavily roasted malt, dark chocolate, and hatred. Hits the mouth with a wide and heavy body, malt kicks you right in the nards and continues to pummel you, dark molasses and hard 24 hour old on a burner coffee comes in the middle, finish has a selection of fine hops that puts a tag on your toe and declares you clinically dead. It reminds me of drinking SA Triple Bock, the whining of narcissistic Obama supporters, and nipple twisting TINKER Bell fans that haven’t step foot in MI, let alone da you pee, eh! MUST... GET... The alcohol flavor has dissipated substantially and left an amazing beer. This beer has suddenly been vaulted into the upper echelon of my favorites.
dark, bitter chocolaty goodness. Very smooth for a high ABV beer. Stone’s 12th trumps the last 2 anniversary beers, granted I am not a hop head. blutt59 (2122), Dallas, Texas, USA

| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Sep 28, 2009 Pours black as night with a chocolate brown edge, beautiful brown head. Huge aroma of deep roast, lots of chocolate and a little coffee. Very bold taste. Dark and bitter as it looks, chewy mouthfeel. Dark chocolate is very obvious and compliments to roast very well. Awesome beer. keithwebb (1), USA does not count | 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Jul 11, 2008 22 oz bottle in July 2008. Pours black, thick, with a chocolate brown head that nearly disipates after a couple of minutes. Aromas of chocolate, coffee, and cherry. Rich, sweet (from malt), bitter chocolate taste. The 9.2% alcohol doesn’t show up in the taste. Nice rich, smooth, with a chocolate and slight coffee finish. BlackMail (55), Evergreen, Colorado, USA

I would say its on par with the Imperial Russian Stout but lots more chocolate. The high alcohol is an added bonus but you wont notice it! kwerikson (107), burlington, New Jersey, USA
