Pours an opache black with a coarse tan head. Aroma is lightly sweet chocolate, vanilla and a bit earthy. Flavor is smooth chocolate, some roasted and black malt bitterness and acidity with just a hint of alcohol. Finishes nice and bitter chocolate Long. Medium to full bodied, silky smooth texture. This one will no doubt improve with age.

Cask, gravity dispense, at the GBBF 2008. ABV was said to be 9.5%. Pitch black colour, minimal head. Complex roasted aroma with notes of oak, dark chocolate, liquorice and tar. Intense flavour of cocoa / chocolate, figs(?) and coffee(?) - I have some difficulties reading my own handwriting here .... Warming mouthfeel, oaky and alcoholic notes. A great sipping beer.

Cask, GBBF 08. Near black with no head.n Aromas are sweet molasses with lots of herbal notes. Coffee and chocolate with woody notes. Flavours are dark chocolate with coffee. Sweet molasses with smoky tobacco. Vinous, fruity and dry on the finish. Great.

Pour is thick black with a foamy brown head. Sweet chocolate and dark fruits are present up front followed by a dry, bitter cocoa finish. Wow, this is really good.

Pours black with a very nice moderate brown head. Aroma is of chocolate, some dark fruit and alcohol. Taste is complex with a very smooth mouthfeel. Chocolate with s nice balancing bitterness, slight oat and grain, alcohol appears on the finish, but very slightly. Well done

Thick oily black. Very tasty looking. Aroma is malty, chocolate, rich fruits. Flavor is very reminicent of rich creamy espresso and dark dark chocolate. This is a good one to be patient with and let evolve as it warms up in your glass. The finish is somewhat like burnt bacon. Yum!

22oz - Aroma is full of deep chocolate, vanilla, ashy dark malts with an oatmeal finish. Pours black with a small brown head. Flavor matches aroma. Palate is sticky and lasting. Alcohol is well hidden. This is a very tasty brew.
