Commercial Description:
Stone 13th Anniversary Ale pours brilliant deep red with a light tan foam. Up front, the aroma is all piney, resinous and citrus hops. Upon tasting, the hops are still on the front, and they are balanced with the malty, toffee like flavors contributed from the blend of crystal and amber malts used in the brewhouse. The finish is deliciously bitter, with a touch of warmth provided by the 9.5% alcohol. Bitterness comes in at 90+ IBU.

Pours a beautiful ruby red with a thin off white head. Aroma is citrus, pine, grapefruit, really powerful hops notes but also some dark cherry and deeper malt notes in there as well. Flavor is wonderful, nice hops notes throughout with an undercurrent of sweet malt and dark fruit, brown sugar. Palate is just a hair on the harsh bitter end, but not so much as to take away from the beer. This was really nice.

22 oz. bottle from Grape & Gourmet. Dark reddish-orange pour with a thick and creamy off-white head. BIG citrusy, pine, and grapefruit hop aroma. Awesome bitter hop flavor; bitter grapefruit, grass, pine, and some brown sugar for sweetness. Some alcohol warming, but not too much. An awesome beer.

Bottle. Clear ruby red color with a decent head. Caramel, some spice, and brown sugar in the aroma. Very hoppy taste. Nice bite to the end too. Kind of dry. Some tart notes. Raisins...and some other spices.

I finally get to try Stone 13th. Wasn’t sure we’d ever get it in FL! Pours a very dark ruby red color with a thick tan head. Looks rather dark in the glass. Nice head retention the whole way through. Aroma at first is rather tropical, grapefruit, mango, melons with some pine and caramel as well. Tastes less citrusy and more resinous and piney than the aroma along with a big hefty toffee and caramel malt base. Very warm finish. There’s definitely a bitter edge to this beer along with being semi-hot but it’s still drinkable and smooth considering it’s such a big beer. This is just a big beer all around really, big hops but also big syrupy malts pushing some limits but I’m okay with it and don’t think it gets too extreme. I don’t think I could drink this too often though but a great beer by Stone.

Deep brown pour with gold highlights and nice floppy tan head. Aroma is bright hops and sweet rich malt. Taste and feel is notably full and solid, lots on interesting hop detail, fruity, nice bitter finish.

Hoppy citrus aroma with a little biscuit character. Bold citrus hop flavor. Pretty good.

On Tap at Old Town. Pours DARK ruby red with tiny head. Nose is BIG TIME complexity. Wet, fruity hops, hops, hops, and something I can’t quite place from the herbal section of the grocery. Taste follows the nose. I wish I could name that mystery flavor! It’s almost like a mix of carrots and fresh ginger root or something similar. Overall this beer tastes like what I would imagine a pine comb turned juicy fruit might taste like. And I’m Digging It!!!! This is very different and VERY GOOD! I’ve found a new style I’m fond of. Stone Did It Right AGAIN!!!
