Commercial Description:
Stone 13th Anniversary Ale pours brilliant deep red with a light tan foam. Up front, the aroma is all piney, resinous and citrus hops. Upon tasting, the hops are still on the front, and they are balanced with the malty, toffee like flavors contributed from the blend of crystal and amber malts used in the brewhouse. The finish is deliciously bitter, with a touch of warmth provided by the 9.5% alcohol. Bitterness comes in at 90+ IBU.

This stuff is awesome! Copper red in appearance. Pours with a light white creamy head. Smell and taste is HOPS but not so much to overpower a non hop head like my wife! I of course love the hops!!!

22oz Bomber. Pours brown with a red tint. Mine had a ton of head, but that may have partly been my fault, second pour was better. Aroma is very hoppy. Taste is also very hoppy, but instead of a huge bite at the end as i was expecting, it sort of mellows out and taste a little more roasted. I like it!

Bottle. Poured dark amber with red tint. Head was tan. Aroma was pine with undertones of malt. Flavor was very hops but the malts help to control them and develop throughout with a bit of alcohol.

~Pours a dark amber ruby color with creamy brown head. ~Very resinous scent with pine notes and lots of crystal malts and alcohol. ~Well balanced flavor. Surprisngly mellow. Hops are huge, but malts make them soft. Grassy and piney with sweet malts and alcohol ~Soft feel, alcohol burn, bitter finish. ~ A strong ale for sure. Good brew. Lots of flavor and scent. Almost a bit over the top with the hops. Good thing malts are there to back them up.

Its good. It is. But I think obguthr put it best when he said, "this beer is a tribute to excess". Pours a transparent blood red with a thin beige head. The aroma is BIG BIG grapefruit, like a back handed smack in the face of grapefruit, smells more like grapefruit than grapefruit, lighter notes of pine, and even lighter notes of caramel. The flavour is a big resinous kick in the jewels of aggressive hoppy goodness, surprise, more grapefruit, burnt unsweetened chocolate, and a touch of caramel sweetness shows up briefly. A warm alcohol finish and resin mouthfeel. A delicious beer, over the top in the hops department, but in a way it kind of works. I still prefer something more balanced though.

Strong aroma of grapefruit which overpowers everything else, but the smell of caramel malts are also buried in there. Cloudy brown with a medium yellow head. It tastes of freshly varnished wood. Resinous mouthfeel and excessive alcohol. This beer is a tribute to excess. If that rings your bell, you’ll love it. I prefer balance and moderation.
