Commercial Description:
Stone 13th Anniversary Ale pours brilliant deep red with a light tan foam. Up front, the aroma is all piney, resinous and citrus hops. Upon tasting, the hops are still on the front, and they are balanced with the malty, toffee like flavors contributed from the blend of crystal and amber malts used in the brewhouse. The finish is deliciously bitter, with a touch of warmth provided by the 9.5% alcohol. Bitterness comes in at 90+ IBU.

22 oz. bottle. A murky mahogany pour with a thick sandy head. Tons of pine and juicy grapefruits in the aroma along with some toffee and roasted malts in the background. Big, semi-syrupy body. Toffee, caramel, burnt malts, and earthy qualities upfront taste-wise. Loads of resiny pine, grapefruits, and a peppery spiciness finish things off. Very drying with a harsh bitterness. Warming alcohol is present throughout.

bomber. Deep cola amber in color with a medium off white head. Aroma of alot of fresh citrus hops - orange/grapefruit, some mild earthy resin, alot of crystal malts and brown sugar. Taste: full bodied, alot of crystal/toasted malt flavor and molasses complimented with alot of fresh citrus hops, some earth, with a nice piney bitterness that at first complements the big malt body then gets stronger in the finish. Another nice Anniversary for Stone!

Draft at Coles in Buffalo. Pours dark red brown with a beige head. The aroma is way hoppy, with floral and citric notes, as well as some sweet and light roasty malt notes. The flavor is slightly over the top hoppy, with floral and piny notes. Light roasted malts and sweet notes of toffee sit in the background. Very good, but a little too over the top for my taste.

Picked this up at NY Penn Station for $8.00!! Dark orange/brown color, cream colored head. The aroma is immediate earthy hops, followed by pine and citrus. They must have really brought out every hop in the inventory. The flavor is citrus hops, strong caramel malt background. Very nice. Alcohol pokes through late in the game. The finish is steady citrus hop bittering, then a mild warming form the alcohol. Medium/thick, oily mouthfeel. Very well done.

Source:22 oz bottle purchased from Midtown in Nashville.
Glass:Samiclaus snifter.
Appearance:Beautiful Dark amber/red color with a 2 finger beige head.
Aroma:Heavy pine and citrus notes. Toffee and caramel are present.
Flavor:Caramel and citrus mainly. As this warms, a very roasty note comes out.
Palate:Full body with mild carbonation.
Overall:I don’t care what the bottle says, this will age well. Still, an excellent beer that would be great without the alcohol in the finish.

22oz bottle. Poured a deep reddish brown color with a very large sized off white head. Aromas of pine, floral hoppiness, caramel, and citrus. Tastes of caramel, toffee, pine, citrus, floral, with some toasted nuttiness. Medium alcohol burn in the finish.

Very woodsy smell of hops right up front. Hop bitterness with every sip and as you drink the alcohol starts to take its toll. This is a serious IPA. Very Stone styled.

22oz bottle from south bay. thanks joey....pours a somewhat muddles dark reddish toffee brown with an enticing frothy and moderately creamy light beige head ...sticky sweet grapefruit and citrusy hops with a considerable caramel malt presence that works cohesively....... creamy smooth texture with pronounced grapefruit hops but very little astringency. again, heavy caramel malt presence to provide balance. really nice and drinkable.
