Commercial Description:
Stone 13th Anniversary Ale pours brilliant deep red with a light tan foam. Up front, the aroma is all piney, resinous and citrus hops. Upon tasting, the hops are still on the front, and they are balanced with the malty, toffee like flavors contributed from the blend of crystal and amber malts used in the brewhouse. The finish is deliciously bitter, with a touch of warmth provided by the 9.5% alcohol. Bitterness comes in at 90+ IBU.

Pours brown with a hint of ruby red with a thick tan head. Great lacing. Aroma of piney hops and caramel. Taste has huge malt backbone with toffee and nice hoppy finish. Thick mouthfeel. Smooth and easy drinking. Would like to have tried this when it first came out to see how much pop the hops had at that time. Very good.

Bottle.Fresh hoppy aroma. Smells like a IPA or APA. The taste is big and malty with a fesh hop touch. Tastes like a hoppier and "lighter" version of Double Bastard. Typical Stone beer.

A style of beer I love in theory and have mixed emotions about in reality, too often these red part of these big hoppy red ales tends to get a little too cloying. Stone 13 is a good example of it, the pour is sexy, the aroma was sexier, but the residual sweetness and ethanol notes as it warmed up really turned me off

Bottle Cracked on Friday the 13th Perfect. Pours out a brown topped with a tall tan head. Aroma of floral hop rush up my nose. Holly Hops. Taste is much much more of the hop notes along with some rich malt to help balance it out. Another tuff brew from Stone.

Dark brown with tremendous tan head and substantial lacing. Black IPA aroma with roast and intense hops. Taste is just that, with a slight hint of smoke, and certain ovaltine notes that end up somewhat cloying in the finish. $6/22oz

Deep dark red colour with a fairly large off-white head that stays around for quite some time. Aroma is refreshingly piney and floral with notes of tropical fruit and toasted malt. Flavour is intense hoppy and bitter with juicy toasted malts in the background. It’s really all about the hops here and the last bottles around should be drunk asap as this is not going to get any better, I wish I could have tried it slightly fresher.

Bottled Pours out in an evil lava-red hazy colour with a small creamy off-white head. Rich, rough, resinous and sappy aroma of pine-cones, caramel-sauce, burnt caramel, roses, grapefruit and roasted malts. Full-bodied with raining notes of bitter grapefruit, red oranges, resin, grass, mild pepper on a foundation of subtle burnt caramel and rye bread. Long really bitter finish of grapefruit, blood-grape, lemon-zest and grass with subtle burnt caramely undertones. Quite brilliant!!
