| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Oct 17, 2009 Bomber. Pours dark red-brown with a dense, lasting tan head. Aroma is resiny pine hops, brown sugar, and caramel. Flavor is aggressively bitter hops, with a nice mixture of pine, grapefruit, and wood. Brown-sugar malt backing is more noticeable after a few sips, and provides a nice balance. Long astringent bitter finish. A good beer for aficionados of west-coast-style "big beers".

Citric, piney & perfumy hops with some caramelly malts. Medium bodied and smooth. Some malt sweetness is quickly dominated by a firm bitterness. Peterlemonjelo (34), Birmingham, Alabama, USA
| 4.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 19/20 | Dec 5, 2009 Beautiful dark ruby color with a nice head and lacing. Aroma/taste is very intense hops (citrus/grapefruit) but amazingly balanced for such a hoppy beer.
One of my favorites. I would have a hard time thinking of a beer I enjoyed drinking more. coldbrewky (730), Saugerties, New York, USA

Head grips glass for half its height and then diminishes. Nose of piney hops. Decent amount of malt in semi thin body. finish is mostly resiny hops that linger. | 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 5, 2009 Bottle.Fresh hoppy aroma. Smells like a IPA or APA. The taste is big and malty with a fesh hop touch. Tastes like a hoppier and "lighter" version of Double Bastard. Typical Stone beer. mtoast (296), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Dec 4, 2009 A style of beer I love in theory and have mixed emotions about in reality, too often these red part of these big hoppy red ales tends to get a little too cloying. Stone 13 is a good example of it, the pour is sexy, the aroma was sexier, but the residual sweetness and ethanol notes as it warmed up really turned me off BuckeyeBoy (1670), Boise, Idaho, USA

Aroma of floral hop rush up my nose. Holly Hops. Taste is much much more of the hop notes along with some rich malt to help balance it out. Another tuff brew from Stone. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Dec 4, 2009 Dark brown with tremendous tan head and substantial lacing. Black IPA aroma with roast and intense hops. Taste is just that, with a slight hint of smoke, and certain ovaltine notes that end up somewhat cloying in the finish. $6/22oz finol (502), Nacka (Stockholm), Sweden
