Released September 2000 - both bottles and kegs. Brewed to celebrate the 4th Anniversary of the Stone Brewing Co. Identical recipe of the always-available Stone IPA, but with 3+ times the hops (we couldn't actually put four times the hops in and still get beer back out...). 100+ IBU's (International Bitterness Units). The human palate can taste up to the 75-90 IBU range.

Tap @ Stone winter Storm 1/28/08, shared with bikesandbeer and my girlfriend Cyn. Pours orange with a bright white ring. Nose is sweet and hoppy. Taste is sweet, hoppy, mellow and bright with a bit of peachy quality to it.

Tap @ Stone Winter Storm ’08: This help up fairly well I have to say. Poured a hazy gold color with an off-white head. Aged sweet malt aroma. Some notes of orange juice but still some hop presence. Citrus aroma and flavor hops. the citrus mixes well with aged malt character in the flavor. Medium bodied with some bitterness still present.

At Winter Storm...cloudy apricot-copper color. Floral-hop-earth aroma. Rich, big bite of citrus hops, orange peel, a little funky.

On tap @ Stone Winter Storm 2008. Poured a brilliant hazed golden color with an orange hue. Head was off white and small with not much lacing. Aroma was lighter than expected, more citrus dominated. Thick and malty mouth feel, hops more prevalent on the finish, an awesome brew.

On tap at winter storm at the brewery. Nice thick white billowy head with golden hue. Not alot of floral and citrus on the nose as was expected due to the age. Smooth and creamy on the tongue with moderate bitterness. Good thick malty and resiny sweetness. Very good finish. The IPA is very good.

On tap at the 2008 Stone Winter Storm. This was the oldest Anniversary IPA on tap, so I went straight for it as my first beer of the evening. Pours a hazy brilliant yellow color from the tap with a nice white film on top. Very floral hop aroma with lots of mellowed earth and hay tones; it seems the 7+ years of aging have done this one well! The flavor is smoothed and elegant, with a large malt profile and resiny hops finish. I’m glad I got to try this vintage brew.

On tap at Stone’s 2008 Winter Storm. Big hoppy aroma. Crazy! I’m realy surprized to smell so much hops after 8 years in the keg in the frig. Must have been awesome fresh. A bit of skunk in the aroma, which really isn’t lightstruck, I think it’s more from the variety of hops used. Cloudy yellow color. Some oxidation. Low bitterness. 3.6-3.8
