Commercial Description:
Released September 2000 - both bottles and kegs. Brewed to celebrate the 4th Anniversary of the Stone Brewing Co. Identical recipe of the always-available Stone IPA, but with 3+ times the hops (we couldn't actually put four times the hops in and still get beer back out...). 100+ IBU's (International Bitterness Units). The human palate can taste up to the 75-90 IBU range.

ON tap at Stone Winter Storm. Cloudy golden with no head. Strong caramel and grapefruit aroma. Syrupy palette. Sweet fruity, grapefruit taste, and caramel sweet finish. Very good.

Good IPA, not as strong an aftertaste as Dogfish Head. Very pleased with this one.

Tasted on draft @ the brewery. I wasn’t expecting such a large hop punch on a 6+ yr old IPA, but this one truly delivered. Nicely hopped w/ a little musty hop flavor due to the aging.

On draft at Bistro during "Winter Storm". Hazy orangey color with a moderate off-white head. This beer was more of a novelty than a great IPA after 6 years of aging, as it had noticible oxidation, and some faint metallic notes. But it still held up quite well, showing nice rich malts and plenty of citrus hops, fruitiness and hints of spice. Full, smooth body and gentle carbonation. Enjoyable overall, but I would have liked to sample this a few years ago!

On tap at the new Bistro: Fruity pineapple aroma with a hint of evergreen. Hazy peach color with a small off-white head. Flavor starts fruity and sweet with citrus, well balanced with a sharp grapefruit rind bitterness in the finish. I’m sure it has mellowed over the years. Medium bodied and smooth with moderate carbonation.

Had it Stone’s Winter Storm. Aroma was of pine and citrus hops. Flavor was much of the same; mildly sour flavor. Pretty good.

Poured a straw colored gold from the bomber with a sudsy white heads. Piney, hoppy, citrus aroma. The flavor is dominated by hops with a lemon citrus flavor. Not incredibly astringent and pleasant to drink.
