Aroma is very hoppy, as is the taste, but it’s a bit more balanced than some of Stone’s hoppier brews. Bitter hops, roasted malt, rich and complex. Great brew. One of their best. It is more like an imperial version of the style which is great. It pours a cloudy dark orange with a thin white head. The taste is balanced but the hops still take the lead. Just an overall great beer and one worth trying if you can find it. TheBeerGod (3167), Newport News, Virginia, USA

Some sweetness is definitely there but is complimented by the hops. WOW! Very hoppy body. Some maple syrup notes in there as well. Seems like a sweeter Ruination IPA to me. Finish has very little bitterness, surprisingly enough. Rather smooth though. Very good beer. Recommended! Verne (261), Enumclaw, Washington, USA

Clear dark amber tan head. Aroma, fruity citrus notes standing out. First the typical grapefruit hop flavor hits but is mellowed out by a very nice rich and somewhat sweet malt base the toasted flavors are here. By Stone standards this beer is almost balanced

Flavor is full and hoppy, but there's a lot more going on here. Seems almost like a cross between their IPA and AB. A nice brew! y0cola (361), fremont, California, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 26, 2004 Deep yellow color like apple juice. Small head. Tastes of hops and a toffee mouthfeel and aftertaste. skaughty (621), Marietta, Georgia, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 22, 2004 Peachy amber hue with minimal head and a tradtional ale aroma. Taste is tangy, involving the tongue. The slick mouthfeel fades into a dry finish. Alcohol is evident throughout - not a good thing for a beer of only 7.7%. muzzlehatch (4427), Burlington, Vermont, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Mar 21, 2004 22 oz bottle. Pinkish-orange, luminous, thinnish ring of lasting foam. Nose is caramel malt with a hint of grapefruit. Very sweet on the tongue, drying out quickly in the finish, which is substantially hoppy. Has a certain oakiness which is attractive, but also seems rather "flat" -- not undercarbonated, just uninteresting flavor-wise. Drinkable, enjoyable, but nothing terribly special in my mind.
