| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 6, 2004 Floral, hoppy aroma with a touch of sweetness. Nice clear amber color. First taste was sweet, but it finished verry hoppy. Nice clean mouthfeel with a mildly bitter aftertaste. argo0 (6907), Washington DC, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jan 5, 2004 Lightly hazed body with small off-white head. Aroma is sweet, very hoppy (floral & citric). Taste is medium sweet, quite hoppy (floral/grapefruit/herbal), but toffee/caramel maltiness balances it nicely. Full body, some resin. Seems IPA more than APA, but perhaps I quibble -- the bottom line is another delicious beer. cquiroga (370), Sylmar, California, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 15/20 | Jan 4, 2004 11/22/03. On tap at O'Brien's in San Diego, CA 11/22/03. Pours a clear, dark golden, almost amber. White, moderate head disappears but the carbonation fizzle keeps going in lumps. No lacing. Lightly cidery taste, velvety smooth medium-full body. Tastes a little strongly of alcohol, lightly burning, also malt-bitter like a dirtier barley wine. Taste doesn't evolve much, and it remains a little disappointing overall, if still pretty good. leitrim65 (398), Seattle, Washington, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 3, 2004 Everything about this beer was caramel. The color, caramel. The nose was a strong combination of hops, malt, and caramel. A nice smoothness to the beer with caramel, hops, and malt flavors. A nicely structured beer. sloth (1677), Ceciltucky, Co., Maryland, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 3, 2004 Medium size tan head, decent retention and a nice sticky lace. Clear orange/amber color. Alcohol, malt and sweet, piney hops jump out at you first. Medium/full body. Malty, citrusy flavors with hints of toffee and apricots as it warms. Good coating, slick mouthfeel. Finish is medium dry, hop sticky. A lip smackin good brew! rudolf (1774), Buffalo, New York, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jan 2, 2004 This wasn't at all what I was expecting. It was good, but I just can't get past the caramel. It was like an unbalanced barleywine. Spiesy (2333), Global Citizen, Greater London, England
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jan 1, 2004 Bottled. Curtsy of Austinpowers. Ever so slightly foggy amber colour. Shiny lacy head. Massive aroma, malts and hops interlaced. Supper long palate that keeps on lengthening the palate. Malts rule this beer but the hops don’t go without respect. In fact, the whole beer commands respect, given its size and strength.
