Well hops wiht pine/resin but a fair amount of malt. Not as "big" as Double Bastard (but then they don't call it a strong ale, so that's fair). ZepolK (102), South Side Montebello, California, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 31, 2003 Inital aroma is that of sourdough bread and malt. Poured dark red/brown with good head and lacing. Flavor was rich and thick of malt, yeast and some spice. Very good American Pale Ale. Finish was somewhat sweet and dry. Very nice brew. My palate just dosent agree with the norm when it comes to stone. Easily my favorite beer of theirs. Awesome aroma of juicy, sweet/bitter hops. Light pine, big caramel malt. Aroma stays til the end of the bottle. Very hazy, golden with light burnt red tones. Small yellow head. Incredibly lush, creamy mouthfeel. Juicy hops meets big sugary sweet malt. The malt probably wins for dominance but in the end, a near perfect balance is achieved. The hops flavor does not bore me, the malt does not cloy and the alcohol is not overpowering. Great quality in moderation. Yes. Ringo (959), Loveland, Colorado, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 28, 2003 A nice tasting ale to be sure - it just seems to me that most Stone brews taste more or less like each other, and this 7th anniversary ale does not seem to be distinctive, as in being much different from other Stone ales. A little bit maltier and sweeter at most. daboskabouter (1470), Fergus, Ontario, Canada
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 28, 2003 Dark golden orange color. The nose is sweet and malt with hints of vanilla, citrus hops and chocolate. The body is very hoppy with a welcome sweet maltiness and a touch of vanilla. Big hops in the finish. Very nice Pale Ale. brewbandit (312), Marietta, Georgia, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 28, 2003 Nice lacy head on an amber body. Medium mouthfeel with a nice aroma of hops/malt. Starts big on the hops with a surprisingly easy middle with a touch of maltiness. Finishes with a balanced crispness. Very nice. Radek Kliber (3948), Toronto (Can) Krotoszyn (Pol), Ontario, Canada
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 27, 2003 Thick white head, copper-amber. Malt, creamy -sweet aroma. Composed in typical for stone style. Big hoppy front, clean middle, some sugar. Pleasant, very refreshing ale. Dickinsonbeer (3490), Hoboken, New Jersey, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Dec 27, 2003 How is this considered APA? Should be Am. strong ale. Pours deep copper/red color like an amber ale with a large frothy off white head which dissipates slowly. Lots of crystal malts here, with huge additions of NW hops. Flavor is almost resiny due to the high amounts of bittering hops.
