Commercial Description:
The Stone 8th Anniversary Ale is, like all previous Stone Anniversary Ales so far, an adaptation of a previous Stone Brewing Co release. This year we set out to make a “Anniversary-ized” version of Lee’s Mild, a 3.8% abv limited release beer from 1999. For this beer we used some of the same malts that we had used in the Lee’s Mild, added more hops, less water (to bring the alcohol content up), and found a tasty balance of toasty/roastyness from the malt and a subtle (by Stone standards!) hop presence. To add further complexity, oak chips were employed to round out the character and give the beer a bit of vanilla/bourbon influence from the wood.

Bottle. Dark brown color with medium off-white head that diminished slowly. Aroma was malt with a small hop tone. Flavor was a moderate bitter with a moderate sweet finish. Medium to full body with a oily tone Good brew.

22 oz. bottle from Mr. Liquor. Poured a dark brown that was red in the light. Thin tan head that thinned out even more in a short time. Lacing limited to the top of the glass. Aromas of carmel and malt. Flavors of roastiness and a hoppy aftertaste. I liked this beer, but I have a headache from trying to read the back of the bottle!

Really good beer, but a departure for stone. Loads of malt and a lot less hops than Stone usually includes. Very much "Lee’s Mild" stepped up a bit. Definitely worth a try for the adventurous brown ale drinkers out there.

First thing I noticed when the top came off was some nice carmel notes. once poured, I could detect a bit of floral hops. Looks nice, with a darker colour and thin but lasting white head. Malty caramel taste with a nice finish of hops. not bad at’ll

Not at all what I was expecting. Bottled 22 oz. pours a dark amber in color with strong floral hints on the nose. Taste is a bit on the caramelly side with a nice bitter hoppy finish. I was very impressed with this offering.

22oz. bomber: This one pours a caramel/reddish brown color. There was a small off white head that dissapated quickly. Biscuity caramel malt aroma, with a slight hint of hops. Maybe some fruits also to the nose. The taste has a roastiness to it that doesn’t come thru in the aroma. Some bitterness in the aftertaste. Very nice!

This bottled brew poured a small sized head of foamy light brown colored mostly lasting bubbles that left behind a carbonated transparent caramel brown colored body and a fair lacing. Its vinous caramel mild brown malt aroma complimented its vinous tingly mouth feel that soon faded into its finish. The flavor contained notes of vinous malty brown malts mixed in with a few yummy toasted roasted notes.

Beautiful caramel colored head fades away to reveal a dark reddish brown color. It has a lightly tart pineapple smell, but a malty stouty roasted kind of taste, and a bittersweet slightly hoppy finish. ($5/22oz)
