Commercial Description:
As has been a tradition, we have “Anniversary-ized” a recipe from our history by cranking it up, making it stronger and more assertive. With this year’s Anniversary we decided to look back at a wheat beer that we released a couple of Spring/Summers a few years ago: Stone Heat Seeking Wheat. While it was a plenty tasty beer, we ultimately decided that it wasn’t that reflective of what Stone was all about, and we unceremoniously dropped it from our lineup. For the Stone 9th Anniversary Ale, we carried some of the characteristics from the Stone Heat Seeking Wheat --- clear, not hazy; hoppy, not yeasty; combining a delicious hop bitterness and wheat tartness --- and made some…well…adjustments.

Pours a cloudy light golden with nice off white head. The aroma is rich with hoppiness and slight malty undertones. The flavor is a mixture of caramel sweetness, citrus, wheat, and has a dry finish.

From bomber. Pours orange with particles floating around and a thin off white head. Nose is yeasty, citrus, bready and a sharp grapefruit rind. Flavor follows, bitter throughout.

Pours a hazy gold with a solid white head. The wheat character is nice and as the hops have died down a bit from aging this shows more character. Now a much spicier yeasty finish blends with the wheat taste. Finish is drier then it used to be, much better now then when I first tried it.

Quick thankyou to Kook for lobbing this one back from the U.S., amongst others. Served up at backyard patio temperature at a small tasting here in Perth.
Poured a hazy, sunny gold with very fine, very tight carbonation. Innocuous, flaccid white head that didn’t last long - minor lacing. Well lubricated, butter, pine-nut and spicy, prickly alcohol aroma with a bleak showing of tropical punch. Smooth, doughy, dry and yeasty in the mouth. Lighter, dustier malts show, as does some more pesky pine and a lick of solventy alcohol that doesn’t quite hold well. Pineapple and pear, maybe a little passionfruit give it a subtle tang and linger in the aftertaste. Good piney and warming length down south. Pretty average stuff. Not awful, not a complete unit. Just a beer, really. (1 pint, 6Fl.Oz, date unknown)

Thanks to Irishboy for this one. pours a very hazy orange with a nice frothy head and thick sticky lacing. I got a big pineapple aroma and flavor along with some grapefruit and pine. A wonderful IPA. Thanks again Irishboy.

Sample courtesy of Kook! Good fruity nose followed by some malt, aroma is better than the taste, biting at the front but not lasting, grapefruit bitter. Ok but not outstanding.

Bottled from trade with BBB63 - Thanks. Orange coloured. Unclear. Dense beige ehad. Sweet and caramelly aroma. Herbal and flowery notes and some citric pine. Flavour is herbal and sweet, almost soapy. Quite mild and mellow, but still with a very nice hopbite. Quite impressive a year after release. Some caramelly notes. Full bodied. Light bitter end, and a light alcoholbite as well. Very good one in my book, but Stone usually pleases my palate. Happy to have one more in the fridge, thanks to Sammy.

22 oz bomber. Pours a golden color with a medium sized white head. Aroma is hoppy with piney overtones. Taste is slightly hoppy with hints of malt, pine cones and tangy wheat. Good, but not great.
