Commercial Description:
As has been a tradition, we have “Anniversary-ized” a recipe from our history by cranking it up, making it stronger and more assertive. With this year’s Anniversary we decided to look back at a wheat beer that we released a couple of Spring/Summers a few years ago: Stone Heat Seeking Wheat. While it was a plenty tasty beer, we ultimately decided that it wasn’t that reflective of what Stone was all about, and we unceremoniously dropped it from our lineup. For the Stone 9th Anniversary Ale, we carried some of the characteristics from the Stone Heat Seeking Wheat --- clear, not hazy; hoppy, not yeasty; combining a delicious hop bitterness and wheat tartness --- and made some…well…adjustments.

Pint Bottle: Pours a nice orange goladen color with a pretty little white head. Tastes wonderful. A hoppy APA is what is tastes like to me. Smells of hops, citrus, pine, and goodness. Tastes like it smells, good, and also some caramel, and some potent fruitiness.

Pours hazy orangish straw with a huge white head of soapy large bubbles the slowly fades. Aroms is sticky caramel malt blended hops of mild pine, citrus, and peach. Flavor is soft but sticky caramel, apricotm mild pine and citrus. Finish was dry then I thought it would be from the sweet maltiness in the foreflavor making it more drinkable then the front of my tongue predicted. Body is medium, palate is kept light and flowing by a fine carbonation.

Bottle (Courtesy of Hogtownharry): Poured a clear golden color ale with a huge pure white creamy and foamy head with good lacing and retention. Aroma of citrus hops is quite dominant but also enjoyable. Taste is quite different from other beers I’ve tasted before and can be describe like a wheat Indian ale. Dominant citrusy hops over a light wheat base beer. Very interesting concept that could have been even more interesting if the beer had been less dominant on hops.

Pours a deep golden amber color with nice off white head. A very light hoppy aroma with some malts. I also noticed a light citrus on the palate.

I was abit surprized by the almost yellow egg color of the beer.It didn’t have much of an aroma.Perhaps if it were drunk at a warmer temperature.I though everything was well balanced. It was a slow drink type of beer for me,as I am still aquiring a taste for the stronger flavored beers.Amnong those type of beers this was fairly easy to drink.I felt that I was drinking a meal,as it had alot of flavor.I like this one.I will have to watch my intake of it ,as it has alot of calories I suppose.I would buy again!

22 oz bottle. Clear orange with a white head. Mild aroma with some hops. At first seemed like an IPA but smoother on the edges. Quite different though; I got sort of a pumpkin overlay of lemon peel.

Golden color. Medium hoppy aroma. Medium malty body with a sharp bitterness. Quite usual now, no thrill…

Clear golden pour with a thin eggshell colored head. Hard to pick out an aroma on this one. Relatively mild wheat and some malt. Very smooth taste, nice and creamy. Very hoppy taste with some dough and citrus. Alcohol is evident and very warming in the finish. Very odd for a wheat, I don’t dig the combo of bittering hops and the alcohol finish. Looking outside of style designations, it’s a pretty good beer, not spectactular, but certainly good.
