Commercial Description:
As has been a tradition, we have “Anniversary-ized” a recipe from our history by cranking it up, making it stronger and more assertive. With this year’s Anniversary we decided to look back at a wheat beer that we released a couple of Spring/Summers a few years ago: Stone Heat Seeking Wheat. While it was a plenty tasty beer, we ultimately decided that it wasn’t that reflective of what Stone was all about, and we unceremoniously dropped it from our lineup. For the Stone 9th Anniversary Ale, we carried some of the characteristics from the Stone Heat Seeking Wheat --- clear, not hazy; hoppy, not yeasty; combining a delicious hop bitterness and wheat tartness --- and made some…well…adjustments.

(bottle - 22 oz) Clear gold color with white foam that begins at about an inch and goes down to a quarter inch and holds. Great glass lacing. Aroma has some sweet and malty notes with a touch of hops. Mostly sweet and caramel malts. Flavor is very sweet as well. Lots of sweetness and some hints of caramel, toffee and brown sugar. The finish is very sweet and thick with a bitter hop bite at the end. Very chewy.

Bottle marked September 2005. Medium sized white fizzy head that mostly diminished, decent lacing, minimal carbonation, mostly transparent with a slight haziness, and a yellow golden hue. Nose some light caramel notes, sweet, citrus, and hoppy. Flavor was sweet, light caramel notes, and hoppy. Tingly, hoppy palate. Medium body.

This beer introduces itself with an aroma consisting of hops, pine, and apple. It is an apricot colored solution with a thick cream colored head. This moderately heavy beer fills the mouth with a robust flavor of hops that turns mildly sweet before transforming into the apple taste that lingers.

A hazy orange beer with a huge ligth orange head. The aroma is sweet hoppy, while the flavor is sweet hoppy, with light notes of caramel and alcohol, the alfa acids from the hops, even burn in the throat - nice if You like hops.

nice great head, mini-lace. Grapefruit aroma, pleasant. Easy drink, had this mellowed. Don’t feel the wheat, maybe a bit from a moderate hazy. head and lace to the end. Tropical and other fruit.Strong beer but double IPA. Medium mouthfeel;. Thanks Dr. Jay.

Alcohol, bubblegum, wheat, citrus, pineapple in the aroma. no head, body is a nice amber. Hoppy, with plenty of citrus, along with brown sugar. Not your typical wheat beer, but nice.

22oz bottle poured a murky pale orange color with a foamy white head. Strong citrus scent in the aroma with some sweet malt notes. The flavor is initially hoppy and bitter. Mild malt flavor with hints of spices and pepper. Nice dry and tart finish. A very good wheat beer.

Orangish color. Grapefruit and hops in aroma. Flavor resembles somewhat an ipa with wheat and more fruity notes to it. Pretty good but just came across slightly wierd somehow.
