Commercial Description:
As has been a tradition, we have “Anniversary-ized” a recipe from our history by cranking it up, making it stronger and more assertive. With this year’s Anniversary we decided to look back at a wheat beer that we released a couple of Spring/Summers a few years ago: Stone Heat Seeking Wheat. While it was a plenty tasty beer, we ultimately decided that it wasn’t that reflective of what Stone was all about, and we unceremoniously dropped it from our lineup. For the Stone 9th Anniversary Ale, we carried some of the characteristics from the Stone Heat Seeking Wheat --- clear, not hazy; hoppy, not yeasty; combining a delicious hop bitterness and wheat tartness --- and made some…well…adjustments.

burnt orange appearance with minimal white head...aroma and flavor are dominated by grapefruit hops, and is very similar to Founder Harvest Ale.....everything is similar to the rind of a gfruit....palate is okay, but a tad harsh...thank you to silphium

Nice gold color with lasting white head. Wheat, flowers and citrus in the nose. Lemony, malty palate and then some hops kick in for a dry hoppy finish. Decent balance and decent beer but for the price and the hype this is the 1st disappointment I’ve had from this place.

Bottle. Citrusy-orange-hopped aroma with some grapefruit notes as well as some eathiness in the nose. Some sweet malt aroma also comes though. Moderately hazy orangey color with large yellow sediment particles and a frothy whitish head. Very hopped and bitter to start with grapefruit notes. Finishes dry, spiced, and peppert. Mild malt balance. This is almost medicinal. I thought this was some sort of IIPA while I was drinking it. I never would have guessed that this was a wheat beer.

shared with my brother. Semi hazy golden pour with lots of floating bits. Generous white head that melts away to a thin film. Hoppy, pineapple armoa. Semi-sweet, PNW hops. Raw, harsh beginning. This seems more like an IIPA. Needs to slumber in the cellar for a couple more years to meld the flavors and mellow a bit. Finish is sticky sweet with a nice balance between the malt and hop. Beginning is too young.

Beautiful Bomber. Clear golden amber supporting a tall and seemingly permanent white head which left loops if delicate lacing to the bottom of the glass. Sweet and hoppy aroma with notes of honey and overipe peaches. Complex and well-balanced flavor with a strong malty character. Plenty of hops to keep the fruity sweetness in check with notes of anise, pepper and orange zest. Classic full Stone mouthfeel and a bitter and satisfying finish. Another winner from Stone.

Grassy nose, hops and kinda sweetish at the same time. Gold color, tall foamy off-white head. Citrus nose, honey, sweet apricot end. Big hop bite in the finish. Complex hop mix that actually has a slight chemical feel to it. Big aggressive beer. No holds barred.

Bomber poured a clear gold with a BIG, long lasting white head. Aromas of citrus and honey. Palate was light bodied and crisp. Flavors of tangerines, satsuma oranges, and a hint of honey with a bitter finish. Not to bad for a stone beer.

Aroma of tangerine, pineapple, pine. Appears a crystal clear color of brass with faint effervescence and a well-proportioned yellow meringue-like head. Flavor is very bitter hoppy, with more tangerine, pineapple, and resin. Palate is thick, chewy, slick, syrupy. Overall, this beer is quite a bit less than the sum of its parts, mostly suffering from an unpleasant flavor.
