He liked it perhaps a geek in the making. The aroma is full of pine, bananas, lemons, and gensing. The flavor is more bent toward a pale ale than a hefe IMO. Some lemons and banana show up with a piney orange taste as well. I enjoyed it.

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Oct 29, 2005 If you were to do a blind tasting of Ruination, Stone IPA, and this beer, I doubt you would be able to pick it out with any accuracy - however, that DOES mean that it’s a damn fine brew; it’s just not something all that "special" for a Stone product - very citrusy and hoppy, but with major caramel malt so that the huge hop profile doesn’t overwhelm you - if allowed to age, perhaps the other subtle background flavors would come to the forefront, but right now it is mostly a hop explosion with sticky malts trying to counteract - the result is a confusing, albeit flavorful experience. jah noth (1015), Rochester, New York, USA

Beautiful golden in appearance with a huge head and oozing lace. Crisp and sharp flavor, lemon with bread, not real yeasty, with some perfumy hops. Thickens as it warms. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 29, 2005 pours out orange color. hoppy smelling with grassy notes in the smell. taste is an offensive hop goodness that is in most stone brews. this one is a really good beer that reminds me of something between stone ruination and stone ipa. an awesome beer, that proves this is certainly a world class brewery. 00cobraR (1098), Greensboro, North Carolina, USA

Orange/golden appearance, with an off white head (almost orange color to it). Acid like hoppy flavor with citrus and vanilla. The aroma is just as good as the taste. I like the palate, creamy mouthfeel to this. Smoother than most ales. I also find a miniscule taste of banana. maybe I’m just crazy. For being 7.8%, it’s hard to taste that strong alcohol flavor I was expecting. A nice long bitter finish. Another enjoyable brew from Stone. Rating this from the style, I give it two thumbs up! | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Oct 28, 2005 Bottle. Pours orange-copper with a medium foamy off-white to yellow head and some lined lacing. Citrus rind, pine hop aroma with background malts. Slightly bitter citrus hop that transcends into a heavy bitter, acidic hop flavor that overpowers all other flavors. Medium bodied, fizzy and lively carbonation.
