Commercial Description:
As has been a tradition, we have “Anniversary-ized” a recipe from our history by cranking it up, making it stronger and more assertive. With this year’s Anniversary we decided to look back at a wheat beer that we released a couple of Spring/Summers a few years ago: Stone Heat Seeking Wheat. While it was a plenty tasty beer, we ultimately decided that it wasn’t that reflective of what Stone was all about, and we unceremoniously dropped it from our lineup. For the Stone 9th Anniversary Ale, we carried some of the characteristics from the Stone Heat Seeking Wheat --- clear, not hazy; hoppy, not yeasty; combining a delicious hop bitterness and wheat tartness --- and made some…well…adjustments.

22oz. bomber. Slightly hazy gold color with a small white head. Great aroma of piney, citrus hops. Bitter hop flavor. Lots of citrus hops in the taste along with some piney resin. A little light on the malt side makes this kind of one dimensional. Alcohol comes through on the finish.

Bomber thanks to Raindog for this one.Nose is gig on the hops but also get a little bit of peachy-ness.Under tones of grass. This is very refreshing, not unlike a spritzer of some kind,in a beer sort odf way.

Nice orange color with decent foamy lacing white head. Aroma is of lots of west coast hops and some grapefruit, some orange blossom, some lemon zest. Much the same for the flavor, only adding some yeast and some alcohol burn to it. Pretty damn decent. Thanks Shag. THought I’d had this one,but I hadn’t.

From the bottle.

The aroma comes on nice enough, lots of citrus hops, a bit of sour wheat, some alcohol -- but the flavor is a bit of a letdown. The brew is a strange combination of yeasty dough and all-out hops, and the two flavors jar with one another in a curious way. I’m not saying it was outright unpleasant to drink, but if I’m going to drink a bottle from Stone, I’d rather drink IPA hops on an IPA backbone than IPA hops in this failed cross-style experiment.

Well Stone has done it again. In that i mean they have created another new beer but released it to other states before any local San Diego stores. The aroma is light and has a floral hop perfume that overpowers the yeast scent and other aromas. Pours a strong and firm gold color but doesnt have much head action occuring. The flavor is off in balance, but it has a very noticeable hop character while also allowing sweet malt to hang around too. Touch of honey and a bitter bite are left behind in the aftertaste. No sign of wheat, however, a tiny grain presence is the only thing coming close to being called a wheat. Suprised to see this is labeled as an American strong ale instead of an IPA. Not at all impressing but at the same time not to shabby for their 9th year of doing business.

Robe dorée surmontée d’une mousse blanche qui persiste. Arômes de houblon résineux, de diacétyle et de malt caramélisé. Saveurs de malt caramélisé, d’alcool, de houblon résineux et de levure.

Golden bronze hue. Big tight cream colored head. Sweet floral nose, citrus, then all stinky resinous hops. Bready, sweet malts, faint light fruit, wheat beer notes, then bang! Hops and alcohol smack ya in the mouth. Full chewy body, steady carbonation, somewhat reasonably balanced I spose. Pineapple, tangerine, big citrus, grapefruit, spicy earthy hops. Quite drinkable if you dont mind some serious hops in yo arse!

Caramel malt aroma. Clear, golden brown body. Full palate. The taste is mostly caramel with some light hops and a hint of alcohol. Not bad.
