Commercial Description:
As has been a tradition, we have “Anniversary-ized” a recipe from our history by cranking it up, making it stronger and more assertive. With this year’s Anniversary we decided to look back at a wheat beer that we released a couple of Spring/Summers a few years ago: Stone Heat Seeking Wheat. While it was a plenty tasty beer, we ultimately decided that it wasn’t that reflective of what Stone was all about, and we unceremoniously dropped it from our lineup. For the Stone 9th Anniversary Ale, we carried some of the characteristics from the Stone Heat Seeking Wheat --- clear, not hazy; hoppy, not yeasty; combining a delicious hop bitterness and wheat tartness --- and made some…well…adjustments.

Bottle from Crown #15 in Fishers, IN; shared with theisti. Pours a hazy, golden-orange with a creamy, off-white head. It has a sweet, malty, wheat nose with notes of citrus and pineapple. Medium-bodied with soft carbonation, a mildly bitter finish and a light hit of alcohol. The flavor is a solid, sweet wheat front with barley wine-like notes of big malt and fruit, only the fruits are the lighter notes present in the aroma. Very different, and a nice use of wheat malt in a bigger beer.

S lightly hazy orange in colour with a medium amount of carbonation. Lots of citrusy c-hop aromas, with a bit of gloral and green hop contribution in the background. Loads of up-front hop flavors eventually fade into syrupy biscuit grains and a subtle tangy wheat finish. I would have liked to have seen the wheat aspects of this beer amped up as much as the hops, but this is still a good beer. Thanks to mnurda for bringing this back from SoCal.

Really didnt like this one, poured a pee yellow color, very light aroma, pine and wheat, flavor is similar, moderately hoppy/piney flavor mixed with certain characteristics of what tastes like an american style wheat beer. Not the best effort

Quick thankyou to Kook for lobbing this one back from the U.S., amongst others. Served up at backyard patio temperature at a small tasting here in Perth.
Poured a hazy, sunny gold with very fine, very tight carbonation. Innocuous, flaccid white head that didn’t last long - minor lacing. Well lubricated, butter, pine-nut and spicy, prickly alcohol aroma with a bleak showing of tropical punch. Smooth, doughy, dry and yeasty in the mouth. Lighter, dustier malts show, as does some more pesky pine and a lick of solventy alcohol that doesn’t quite hold well. Pineapple and pear, maybe a little passionfruit give it a subtle tang and linger in the aftertaste. Good piney and warming length down south. Pretty average stuff. Not awful, not a complete unit. Just a beer, really. (1 pint, 6Fl.Oz, date unknown)

On-tap at Stone the day after RBSG. Pours vibrant, hazy, yellow/orange with a thin white head. Smells light andhoppy citrusy with some orange and peach scents. Tastes nice and light citrusy, orange again as well as the peach flavor, kind of sweet malty as well. Medium body, somewhat subdued carbonation.

Pours a cloudy light golden with nice off white head. The aroma is rich with hoppiness and slight malty undertones. The flavor is a mixture of caramel sweetness, citrus, wheat, and has a dry finish.

Bought a whole case of it cause I liked last years a lot. Heard it was a "wheat wine" and got scared. At first I liked it, pours out a nice orange/yellowish color with a good amount of carbonation. Hops on the nose. Taste is mild, but drinkable with notes of some spice and hops. Good beer to try, but gets very old after you’ve had a few
