Commercial Description:
As has been a tradition, we have “Anniversary-ized” a recipe from our history by cranking it up, making it stronger and more assertive. With this year’s Anniversary we decided to look back at a wheat beer that we released a couple of Spring/Summers a few years ago: Stone Heat Seeking Wheat. While it was a plenty tasty beer, we ultimately decided that it wasn’t that reflective of what Stone was all about, and we unceremoniously dropped it from our lineup. For the Stone 9th Anniversary Ale, we carried some of the characteristics from the Stone Heat Seeking Wheat --- clear, not hazy; hoppy, not yeasty; combining a delicious hop bitterness and wheat tartness --- and made some…well…adjustments.

Rich copper hued liquid with a thick white foam. Nose is sharp hops with a nice juicy hop presence. Taste is nice tangy and hoppy dry bitterness. Mouthfeel is smooth but a nice fizzy explosion. The beer resolves into a nice hop filled bitter happiness.

Poures a nice copper color with medium white head. Aroma is of malts, and citrus as well as some hops and some yeast. Flavor is citrus and some spices. Malts and a little hos round it out. Finishes bitter with some spiciness too. Alcohol is noticeable, but not overly so. A good brew.

Translucent yellow amber. Large white rocky head. Wheat, tinges of phenol, and some citrusy sweet hop aromatics. Cascade family hops clash with doughy malt, wheat, and phenolic yeast character. Finish is fairly dry with an alcohol note. Mouthfeel is clean and fairly large.

Thanks SecretSanta. Pours orangish-yelllow with a small head that quickly dissipates. Aroma is like a really hoppy IPA. Flavor is a combination of IPA with added wheat and rye. Had this on cask at Falling Rock before GABF- the start to a really good day.

Thanks to miver for this one. I came home one day and he left 2 on my door step. Pours a clean orange color body with a fluffy brige head. The aroma is big citrus with some yeasty undertones. Flavor is a very well balanced blend of grapefruits, oranges, pineapple, mild wheat, slightly toasted malts, and belgianesque yeast. Incredibly easy to drink. I finished off the bomber in no time w/o realizing. Very interesting, and tasty brew. Doesn’t strike me as one that’ll benefit much from aging.

Pours a bright orange-copper color, with lively carbonation, and topped by a frothy inch of white foam. Okay head retention, moderate lacing. Citrus and pine hop aroma. The very first sip stabs my palate with sharply bitter pine hops, but then it, um... (mellows is NOT the right word), it um,... let’s just say that it backs down a bit. Still very bitter, with tons of pine and a bit of citrus, just not quite as stabbingly sharp. Behind the hops is a malt profile that doesn’t exactly provide balance, but does provide ample body. As long as a hoppy beer’s not a thin hop tea, I don’t really care about the balance - I like the extremes. Then, in the finish, there is a little bit of licorice maltiness that I always seem to find (and enjoy tremendously) in Stone beers. Medium full body, soft but prevalent carbonation. Too bitterly hoppy to be called smooth, but the mouthfeel is fairly soft. Drinkability? While I can’t exactly say that I’d want another bomber of this TODAY, I’d sure love another tomorrow

Wow! This is not for your average watered down beer drinker. It explodes with flavors of grapefruit, pine, lemon, citrus. Tart taste. Head is impressive, as is lace. I can see why this fits in the American Strong Ale category.

Tap at Winter Storm 2. A very nice variation and surely the most turbocharged white I have ever had. Tart orange outlines a very sharp and lasting wheat and flour flavor. Wish I could have again.
