While the term HPA doesn’t exist in some of the more elite beer nerd circles, I will use it in an unbiased fashion here. Yes, Hefe Pale Ale, my friends. Creamy, wheaty and hoppy. All over the course of one sip! How’s that for fan-flippin-tastic? There’s one more store in my hood that still has it but I’m not telling because it’s ALL MINE! bethmatt0421 (321), Covington, Kentucky, USA

Orange/golden appearance, with an off white head (almost orange color to it). Acid like hoppy flavor with citrus and vanilla. The aroma is just as good as the taste. I like the palate, creamy mouthfeel to this. Smoother than most ales. I also find a miniscule taste of banana. maybe I’m just crazy. For being 7.8%, it’s hard to taste that strong alcohol flavor I was expecting. A nice long bitter finish. Another enjoyable brew from Stone. Rating this from the style, I give it two thumbs up! radagast83 (1317), Fairfax, Virginia, USA

Pours a clear orange/gold with a thick head. Aroma is a mild hop and malt aroma. Flavor is banana, spices. Slight oxidation (or what I felt may have been) but not enough to be of any real concern to me. Not as good as the 11th, but a solid brew from Stone. | 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Nov 8, 2005 Pours a amber red color with a small quickly diminishing white head. there is plenty of lacing. Aroma has plenty of hops and is a little musky yet sweet. Flavor is very balancd. There is some initial bitterness, followed by sweetness. The beer finishes long and slightly bitter. A very nice beer! patrick767 (2058), fort wayne, Indiana, USA

It definitely has the strong hops character that is a Stone signature. They’re very present right from the aroma onward. There’s a light citrus aroma and flavor too with some malty sweetness as it hits the tongue, followed by a hoppy finish. It’s fairly easy to drink and I didn’t really notice the almost 8% alcohol content. brettpace (179), Northridge, California, USA

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Feb 6, 2006 Orangey color, fruity aroma and a slighty fruity flavor which seems uncharacteristic for Stone. I have yet to have a bad Stone beer, I like them all. This one is good, but not in my top of the Stone arsenal. Lingering wheaty aftertaste and the alcohol flavor seems to be right at the top. eaglefan538 (2405), Wilmington, Delaware, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jun 5, 2006 A solid four across the board. Poured, smelled, and tasted just like a dIPA, although slightly more yellow and less orange-amberish than many from that style. The aroma was malty, yeasty, and resinous. The flavor was malty sweet with some grapefruits and resin flavors coming through. Nice slightly pine-like hoppy finish. Mouthfeel was moderately bodied and the alcohol didn’t overwhelm (wasn’t hidden, though).
