Commercial Description:
As has been a tradition, we have “Anniversary-ized” a recipe from our history by cranking it up, making it stronger and more assertive. With this year’s Anniversary we decided to look back at a wheat beer that we released a couple of Spring/Summers a few years ago: Stone Heat Seeking Wheat. While it was a plenty tasty beer, we ultimately decided that it wasn’t that reflective of what Stone was all about, and we unceremoniously dropped it from our lineup. For the Stone 9th Anniversary Ale, we carried some of the characteristics from the Stone Heat Seeking Wheat --- clear, not hazy; hoppy, not yeasty; combining a delicious hop bitterness and wheat tartness --- and made some…well…adjustments.

22 oz. bottle. Pours a hazy, cider color. Thin, bubbly white head that doesn’t stick around for very long. Aroma of honey, peaches, and warming alcohol. Flavor is cloyingly sweet, but not offensive. Dark fruits, raisins, pears. A bit of alchol, but not too overpowering. Finish is slightly bitter, with peppery notes.

orange/amber pour, big head, which disappeared sorta quickly. hoppy sweet aroma. flavor is very sweet and malty, but with a good floral hop flavor to give it some bite. a lot like an IPA.

Pours yellow with a medium sized white fizzy head. Smells malty and hoppy together in a difficult way to explain, kind of like carmalized pine needles. Taste is quite interesting, it starts off sweet and soothing tasting of caramel. It then gives way to a complex bitter aftertaste that is quite unique. Nice beer.

Pours out a slightly hazy orange-gold with a substantial white, medium-density head. A very assertive beer. Lots of hops in the nose and taste. High bitterness with a strong but not unpleasant alcohol character. The wheat aspect is downplayed--adding primarily to this beer’s relatively light body in relation to its alcohol and hops profiles. This may come across as harsh to some, but I find it very crisp, drinkable, and refreshing.

Robe dorée surmontée d’une mousse blanche qui persiste. Arômes de houblon résineux, de diacétyle et de malt caramélisé. Saveurs de malt caramélisé, d’alcool, de houblon résineux et de levure.

22 oz. bottle courtesy of a trade with jgd0608. Pours a cloudy peach gold with a moderate-large linen white head that lasted to the end and left substantial lace on the glass. Very pleasant aroma of grapefruit, oranges and apples. I was pleasantly surprised at how fruity and plentiful the hops presence was given the age of the bottle. The flavor is similar to the aroma with lots of grapefruit, orange and apples, however, this is eventually overtaken by the flavor of isopropyl alcohol, which carries to the end. Bitter at the finish. This would have been a 4.0 beer had it not been for the isopropyl alcohol flavor. Even with that, this is a very good brew.

Pours a cloudy light golden with nice off white head. The aroma is rich with hoppiness and slight malty undertones. The flavor is a mixture of caramel sweetness, citrus, wheat, and has a dry finish.

Slightly herbal nose with some mustiness and sour apple. Beautiful golden in appearance with a huge head and oozing lace. Crisp and sharp flavor, lemon with bread, not real yeasty, with some perfumy hops. Thickens as it warms. Interesting…
