Commercial Description:
As has been a tradition, we have “Anniversary-ized” a recipe from our history by cranking it up, making it stronger and more assertive. With this year’s Anniversary we decided to look back at a wheat beer that we released a couple of Spring/Summers a few years ago: Stone Heat Seeking Wheat. While it was a plenty tasty beer, we ultimately decided that it wasn’t that reflective of what Stone was all about, and we unceremoniously dropped it from our lineup. For the Stone 9th Anniversary Ale, we carried some of the characteristics from the Stone Heat Seeking Wheat --- clear, not hazy; hoppy, not yeasty; combining a delicious hop bitterness and wheat tartness --- and made some…well…adjustments.

Smells full of fruity sugars and light pine, over sweet pineapple and some mango as well. Very interesting aroma, sharp sweet sugary hops that resemble a gummy-bear scent, along with either a honey or a slight coriander aroma. These hops are goooooood.... overly sweet yes, but still delicious. Frothy, sweet, fresh tasting pine and some fruity clove flavors. Frothy and crisp.

Alcohol, bubblegum, wheat, citrus, pineapple in the aroma. no head, body is a nice amber. Hoppy, with plenty of citrus, along with brown sugar. Not your typical wheat beer, but nice.

On tap @ Stone, RBSG. Slightly hazy golden with a slight amber hue. Short-lived white head. Slight phenolic banana notes, darker Belgian malts, some citric notes. Deep wheat taste with some mild dark fruity tones. Nice texture to it. Alcohol complements well also.

65 cl bottle. Tasted during trip to California. Yeast in bottom. Amber unclear colour with a fast disappearing head. Very nice fruity aroma, hints of sweetness. A very hoppy flavour that ends some warm from the alcohol. Little yeasty and dry to the end.

Golden orange color. Fragrance is citrus with a white medium head that goes slowly. Smells like Stone Ruination. Has the grapefruit rind bitterness of an IPA but this is softened by malts and ends on a dry bitter note as well.

Bottle. Poured a clear light orange color. The head was tall, sticky, creamy, and off white. There was some decent lacing left on the glass at the end. The aroma as of malty caramel, Ritz crackers, and flowery hops. Slightly sweet with a smooth and creamy mouth feel. I tasted grass, cotton candy, toffee, and a splash of raw alcohol. Pretty good stuff.

The color is a mix of gold and orange, with a thick peach colored head. The aroma is apricot and hops. Medium to heavy body with a smooth, almost oily texture. The finish is a bit sweet.

Bottle. Poured orange color (like an orange nectar) with off white head. Head dissapates very quickly. Aroma is orange, hops, and malt. Taste is malty, a sweet malt with some wheaty taste as well. Tastes like a lighter Hercules Double IPA a wee bit. Nice finish, good beer.
