On tap at Three Floyds served in a snifter. Dark mahogany brown pour with a few ruby highlights and a thin head of lasting tan foam. Excellent lace. The aroma was caramel, bourbon, oak/vanilla, and also some faint dark fruits. Not much in common with the base beer. The flavor was overpowered by bourbon and vanilla. Not much left from the origanal other than some caramel. The mouthfeel didn’t suffer from the aging. Full-bodied and lightly carbonated with surprisingly vibrant carbonation. It wasn’t bad, but Arrogant Bastard is better consumed fresh, minus the bourbon.

Dec 15, 2009 On tap at the Portland Holiday Ale Fest. Colour... medium brown with a 1/4 inch head. Nose... roast! Not roasty. But, roast! Like a chuck roast that was soaked in Bourbon before before being grilled. Palate... sweet, but not cloying, oak, vanilla, smoke, lightly boozy and a somewhat grain-like finish.

Dec 14, 2009 Tap at FFF: WOW! Big oak, and vanilla on top of the huge bourbon barrel notes on top of the already nearly perfect Arrogant Bastard hop attack. What could be improved upon here?

Dec 2, 2009 Holiday Ale Festival... Poured deep amber with a khaki head. Vanilla, cookie dough, and bitter alcohol flavors. Hoppy and malty finish.

Nov 12, 2009 Tap at FFF. Dark ruby/brown with 1 finger light tan head. Has similar nose and flavor to original version, but smoothed out, sweetened and infused with bourbon. I really dig what the barrel did to this brew.

Sep 21, 2009 Bottle. Pours deep amber with a beautiful, aromatic off-white head. Nose of roasted malt, caramel, hops, and hints of pepper. Relatively full body, amazing lacing, and a strong finish. Another great offering from Stone.

Jul 28, 2009 Another delicious offering by Stone. Interesting brown pour. Strong hop aroma. Nice crisp chocolate malt taste complimented by vanilla, oak sweetness, and caramel malts. Notes of bourbon, good balancing hop bitterness. Silky texture, long warm finish. An excellent strong ale.
