Commercial Description:
Just one wooden barrel of this beer was produced. The beer is Stone Imperial Russian Stout, and it was aged for about a year in a used bourbon barrel. From that wooden cask, we were only able to keg up very little. Expect to see the next appearance of this at the Stone Brewing World Bistro & Gardens after it opens early this summer.

Super Thanks to ghawener. Drank it at El Flor for New Year. Wow!! It is liquid heaven!! Pours a pitch black with a small brown head. Medium bodied. Taste of coffee, sweet and balanced with hops.

Bottled, thanks Marsbiblursi! Very viscous dark black, no head. Rich aroma of vanilla and wood flakes. Sweet and thick, viscous and oily. Mildly warming with some licorice and coffee. While the bourbon in itslef is not very obvious I do get quite a lot of wood and vanilla. Alcohol warms in a really bitter finish. Intense, yet not aggressive - abit on the syrupy/oily side.

[Handbottle] from tytoanderso. Pours deep block with a small tan head. Aroma is lots of bourbon, vanilla, oak, and alcohol. Flavor is very smooth with a medium mouthfeel, alcohol, bourbon, oak, rich dark chocolate, and cocoa.

(Bottle, thanks to wetherel) Pours dark brown to black with a brown head and an oily surface. The aroma is a fantastic mix of robust, dark caramel, buttery fudge and creamy chocolate-like malt alongside soft notes of fresh oak wood and vanilla. Undertones of dark fruits and dark berries such as raisins, prunes, ripe sweet cherries and chocolate dipped figs. A nice alcohol warmth is carrying everything in the nose beautiful. Just a whisper of molasses, soy and smoke. The flavour is perfect roasted with dark creamy chocolate and coffee. The finish is peppery from the alcohol and bourbon. Undertones of dark fruits, molasses, fresh wood, vanilla, caramel and touch of stone. The mouthfeel is velvety smooth and oily with a light tannin-like finish. Medium sweet and a bit bitter. Medium to full bodied.

To celebrate my rating number 11,300 I enter this much sought after top-50 beer. A pitch black beer with a thin brown head. The aroma is sweet malty with notes of roasted malt and bourbon. The flavor is sweet with strong notes of bourbon as well as medium notes of wood, roasted malt, and alcohol, leading to a dry roasted finish. The alcohol burns in the top of the throat.

On tap at the bistro a little while back. Poured an obsidian black with a two finger brown head. Aroma of oak, bourbon, chocolate. Flavor had vanilla notes along with the aromas from above. Full bodied with soft carbonation and a creamy mouthfeel.
