[Draft @ Capones] (2006) Murky purple brown with a small, off white head that left light lacing on the glass. Aroma of brandy, wood, caramel malts, nuts, floral hops, citrus, vanilla, and alcohol. Taste of dried fruits, citrus, pine, caramel, vanilla, wood, sharp brandy, and some alcohol in the finish.

Tap at Capones. Pours a hazy brownish amber with a medium creamy tan lacing head. Aroma of brandy, caramel, toffee, nuts, vanilla, oak and sugar coasted peanuts. Flavor of vanilla, caramel, peanuts, oak, light brandy notes, very smooth and nice hop bitterness still there. So well done.

Pours a deep dark mahogany/chestnut brown color with very dark ruby edges and a one finger off-white head that quickly fades into a thin ring. Not much lacing. Sweet vinous aroma with lots of alcohol and oaky vanilla brandy notes. Dark fruit, caramel, fig, currant, red cherries, grape and toasty malt. Sweet vinous medium body with lots of oaky vanilla brandy flavor. Slight vanilla smoothness balances out the sweet alcohol and prominent brandy. Lots of dark fruit notes, especially grape, dark cherries and currant. Slight heat but mostly from the brandy aging and a bit of roasted chocolate malt underneath but most of the the flavor is overpowered by a prominent brandy flavor.

Draught at Capone’s (2006 Vintage): Aroma of oak, brandy, maple syrup, malts, light raisins, light dark ripe fruit, light hops, and alcohol. Poured brown in color with a small, off-white head around the edges only. Opaque. Not sparkling. Flavor is light to medium sweet and lightly bitter. Tastes of oak, alcohol, vanilla, brandy, malts, caramel, light raisins, and light dark ripe fruit. Medium to full body. Syrupy texture. Soft carbonation. Alcohol, malt, and raisin finish. Very alcohol hot, even after 3 years of aging.

Draft. Amber beer with an off-white head. Hoppy grapefruit aroma. Hoppy grapefruit flavor with rich malt and brandy backing. Medium-plus bodied. Grapefruit and pine lingers with rich malt.

draft @ Brouwer’s Big Wood - reddish brown with spotty tan head; quite boozy with the brandy dominating every aspect; flavor is not too aggressive and double bastard is barley noticeable; texture is sweet and rich though; not bad, but a little disappointing and primarily a brandy bomb

Slightly alcoholic. All I’m really able to get out of this is some brandy notes. Finishes very hot.
