Sep 27, 2008 Updated: Sep 28, 2008On tap at the Stone Brewing World Bistro & Gardens on 08/03/2008 on day three of RBSG 2008. 2006 Vintage. Clear copper body with a small white head. Caramel and malt aroma. Sweet caramel flavor, light molassas and a brandy kick. Medium full body with low carbonation and a somewhat syrupy finish.

Sep 22, 2008 Thanks to SoLan for sending this to us in Cleveland. Pour is auburn, brownish. Small head. Aroma is brandy and dark malts...fruity. Flavor is a bit hot with some bitterness as well. Full bodied and smooth, but like the regular better.

Sep 19, 2008 2006 version on tap at Stone;poured reddish auburn, not much head. Aroma was sweet and sugary, caramelly, brandy, wood and alcohol. Flavor was barleywine lke; a little too hot and alcoholic. For me I didn’t find alot of the underlying beer present. I’m just not liking when aging overpowers the beer too much. Still it was pretty tasty.

Aug 31, 2008 Hand bottle from BBB63. Pours brown with some firey hues and no head. I think the brandy barrel is in the drivers seat here. Still plenty of hops. Great nose. Lots of brandy flavor with a strong bitter finish. A bit of an oily palate. Really pretty damn good.

Aug 28, 2008 RBSG ’08: Tap @ The Bistro. Poured a slightly hazed red-copper color with a small off-white head. Piny hop aroma with plenty of sweet malt. The Brandy is there but is a background player.. The aroma is still very hoppy. Sweet sugary malt big hops with a pine finish that keeps on growing. Mild Brandy giving a nice balance. Full bodied and smooth on the tongue.

Aug 27, 2008 Draft @ Stone, RBSG. Amber color, looks like slightly more carbonation than French oak version. Aroma is more rounded than French oak version, sweeter, almost mead-like. Taste is still sweeter, some vanilla along with the rich malts. Very nice.

Aug 27, 2008 Cleveland tasting. Thanks to Solan. Growler. Pours dark brown with a off white head. Has a aroma of brandy, alcohol, floral hops, molasses, burnt sugar. Flavor is again huge alcohol, molasses, brown sugar, burnt sugar. Palate is full bodied, medium carbonation, finished, warming and sweet. All in all, this is pretty hot right now, like the aroma more than the flavor, but still great stuff. I’d like to see this bottled with some time on it.

Aug 27, 2008 Draft... RBSG ‘08... This beer rocks!... Clear amber ale with a mid-sized, off-white head. Molasses, brandy and medium-roast malts pound my olfactory system like a drum. Full-bodied and very silky with moderate carbonation. Chewy, boozy-warm flavors of caramel, dark fruits and brandy. Finishes lightly smoky with a suggestion of vanilla.
