| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | May 2, 2009 I was most let down by this beer of the guest taps that I had at DLD. The taste of the Brandy really doesn’t come through that much at all. On top of that, the flavor is incredibly harsh. The hop bitterness is there, but without the flavor you normally get in double bastard. Really strong, over the top brew. holdenn (1443), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 2, 2009 On tap at DLD. Brown red in color with a beige head. Red fruit, yeast, rich cherries, alcohol, and malt in the aroma. Malty fruit flavors, cherries, grass, and alcohol. Bitter fruit in the finish. Solid beer. daknole (2942), Plantation, Florida, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Apr 29, 2009 YUM at DLD! Rich amber pour. Off white head. Big aroma of Brandy, vanilla, wood, fruity, syrup and hops. The flavor is big and bold. Glad I didn’t drink this early in the day. Booze, oak, hops, fruit and its strong. Wow. | 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Apr 28, 2009 This poured a dark red color with a tiny off white head. Aroma was sweet brandy some sort of fruityness, hops and booze. Flavor is almost overwhelming, mainly brandy flavors which mixed very with the citrus of the hops that was left in this beer. Very interesting an harsch in a good way. puzzl (2621), New York, New York, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Apr 27, 2009 Tap at DLD. This may very well the most harsh, most palate-brutalizing beers I’ve ever had. Holy crap. Perfume and brandy and bourbon and just straight up liquor aroma, with some mint and lemon notes present. Sweetish, worn coffee, with a grapey brandy dominance in the flavor. Strong and rough, this certainly lives up to its name. This is probably the beer that crushed my palate for much of what was left to come. kp (8396), Woodstock, Georgia, USA

Saw some people dismiss this, but I thought it was the best of the guest taps I had. Lots of alcohol and brandy in the taste. I don’t know this normal Double Bastard, but I don’t care. Very nice and I would drink this all the time if I could.
