Aroma is different and interesting. Piney resin, doughy bread, a bit of banana and clove. Flavor is equally confusing with the Belgian characteristics mixing nicely into the smooth IPA. Creamy mouthfeel, a little light on hops as the malt and yeast take center stage. JPDIPSO (4918), Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 9, 2009 Deep golden color with a Moderate off-white head. Sharp aromas, with green fresh hops, pine sap, citric and tropical fruit, pomegranate, and hints of bread dough. Extra point for the unique hops and yeast nose. Light sweetness, with a bitterness that sweeps it away mid swallow. Bits of alcohol and pale malt in the finish and linger. Light white grapefruit and pepper mingle in. Some rough edges, or more precisely sharp bits. Still a fun brew to try. satan165 (595), River Grove, Illinois, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 9, 2009 aroma is salty, nearly savory yeast intermingled with strongly mixed lemonade. flavor is nearly palatable yeast with huge hopping underneath, seems far more hopped then standard stone IPA. yeast gives way to nearly mouth puckering dryness in the finish, proceeded by a nearly chewy mouthfeel. wonderful sunny-hazy pour with messy lacing and filmy head. bit of a yeast bomb but a guilty pleasure in its drinkability if nothing else. mastabass666 (32), California, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 8, 2009 tropical fruit, grapefruit and pink gum aroma. taste is the same with nice malt sweetness and well-rounded hop bitterness. belgian yeast is a nice, complex change of pace from stone’s standard, well done ipa planky84 (128), , Greater London, England
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Dec 7, 2009 Bottle from Utobeer market stall. Pours a light orange/amber with a thick creamy head. Fruit bursts through in the aroma with caramel, floral notes, fresh bread coming through too. Very pleasant. Excellent lacing also. Flavours of lemon, coriander, grapefruit, some sweetness. Good hop explosion mouthfeel. Finishes more hoppier than a frog. Excellent IPA. KnN (741), Greenbelt, Maryland, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 5, 2009 Pours a nice cloudy dark yellow orange with a nice finger’s worth of white head. Aroma is big citrus hops, lots of grapefruit and lemon peal. Underneath those hop notes are some really nice subtle yet apparent spicy Belgian yeast aromas. First frew sips are nice biting tasty juicy bitter hops explosions but as your palate gets accustomed the Belgian notes creep in as well offering this beer many different layers and flavor profiles. Very nice. brewblackhole (1382), Muskego, Wisconsin, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 5, 2009 Just when you think they can’t come up with anything new and different, a new style shows up that defys catagorization. The aroma was an utter surprise, all that tropical fruit, banana aspect of a good Belgian yeast, hits you, there is some of the hop,but the Belgain part is such a surprise, you really don’t notice the hopping too much. Flavor is another surprise, given the aroma, you are now hit with an IPA dominated taste, piney hops, the Belgian esters are subdued in taste,a little fruity sweetness, but a definite bitter finish. How fascinating it was to try this, a real conversation brew. potbeercollege (375), Boulder, Colorado, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Dec 4, 2009 Bomber. Starts out very alive with a big frothy white head, hazy mysterious orange color. Aroma is predominantly big floral hop with almost equal (slightly less prevalent) notes of citrus (specifically orange and grapefruit). Aroma continues with big yeast giving the aroma overall a much sweeter nose. Because of yeast, flavor is lightly sweeter highlighting more of the citrus fruit and even more of the drier back half of this beer that compliments the sweet beginning. The hops totally take over. OH YEAH
