Stone Cellar Bourbon Barrel Pale Ale

On draught at the Stone Cellar brewpub in Appleton, Wisconsin. Pours a hazy copper amber brew with a decent off-white head that has some excellent retention and sticky lacing. Aroma of bourbon, citrus zest, some caramel malt, vanilla and toffee. Taste is smooth, medium bodied, with flavors of caramel malt citrus, vanilla, light tangerine, and plenty of bourbon. Finish continues the vanilla/bourbon aftertaste that slowly disappears to a nice balanced citrus/malt flavor.

Cloudy copper color with an amber hue and a clingy cream colored head. Very good but pretty much what you would expect. Aroma and flavor of bourbon and hops. Also has hints of caramel and toffee.

On tap at Stone Cellar. Pours an amber color with frothy off-white head that leaves nice rings of lacing as the beer is consumed. Aroma is of intense vanilla, bourbon, caramel, toffee and butterscotch. Not in a crappy diacetyl way either. Taste matches the aroma but the hop bitterness balances out the bourbon and prevents it from being lopside and one dimensional. Crazy good and very easy drinking. I could have taken a few of these down easily.
