esjaygee (1467), Oak Creek, Wisconsin, USA Jul 7, 2008 On tap at Stone Cellar brewpub. Dark brown with no head. Aroma of sweet malt and pale hops. Taste of dark malts, some caramel, not much differentiation in flavor here. Body is a little chewy and it finishes a bit dry. Filling in some gaps at Stone Cellar, this was the only one on tap which I
had not previously sampled. With only two previous ratings, it needs some
attention so I filled up my glass to give it the quick run down.
Aroma / Appearance - The nose was full of a vaguely expresso-ish tone.
There was also some baker’s chocolate and a trace of smoky bar. The color
was a dirty gray which captured about 75% of the light coming through. It
certainly looked nice before I quaffed it.
Flavor / Palate - The taste was interesting though brief as I went
through this easy drinking lager in only a handful of sips. There were no
suprises here - chocolate powder, some Folger notes and a trace of vanilla
gave a nice balance. It was neither good nor bad, straddling that line that
is a good session ale quite nicely. brewblackhole (1367), Muskego, Wisconsin, USA Sep 17, 2005 Surprisingly full of coffee and chocolate in both the aroma and taste. A very nice switch for a lager, I’ll be looking for it robertsreality (2460), Minnesota, USA Aug 11, 2005 Tried at Hops&Props. Dark Brown Coloring with Sandy Ring. Sweet Malt Aroma.
