Nuffield (2718), Roseville, Minnesota, USA Aug 31, 2009 Low flavor profile but gentle and subtle. Moderate palate, some carbonation. Long finish of light bitterness. I don’t get the rye in it, and I usually do. Not memorable but o.k. On tap at brewpub. gws57 (1131), Saint Charles, Illinois, USA Mar 3, 2009 Hazy dark yellow pour with some mape and brown sugar in the nose, malty flavor, with rye bread and a smooth finish. Great! satan165 (540), River Grove, Illinois, USA Feb 6, 2009 practically undrinkable on cask at brewpub. dead flat and ice cold. nose was nil, nothing to speak of good or bad. flavor was of weak malt and nothing else. palate was zilch. overall this was bad news. and i purposely went on friday so i could drink from their firkin, waste of time. prosqtor (408), Appleton, Wisconsin, USA Jul 8, 2008 Beerfest in Chilton. Maybe this isn’t my type. Smells like bread, taste is dry with hops and an overwhelming grain feel and taste. esjaygee (1467), Oak Creek, Wisconsin, USA Jul 7, 2008 On tap at Stone Cellar brewpub. Light amber with a thin white head. Aroma of oatmeal, grains, sweet malt and light rye. Taste of rye, caramel, oatmeal and mild hops. Crisp finish though somewhat astringent. notalush (2626), Denver, Colorado, USA Jun 23, 2008 I really wanted to like this beer, but I was unimpressed - you can sure taste the grains in here, but not much else - the beer is very sweet, so it combines with the grains to make the beer taste like some kind of healthy cereal with a lot of honey poured on top of it - other than that, there wasn’t a lot going on here - corn became prominent in the finish, and the sweetness kept reminding me of corn syrup. Shag (1922), Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA Jun 2, 2008 A dark golden color with a white head. The aroma contains some rye, freshly baked raisin bread and some mild citrus. The flavor is slightly sour with a doughy presence. More of that raisin bread in the flavor. Some caramel and rye show up as well. Overall this was an interesting beer, I kind of like it! phishpond417 (1861), Madison, Wisconsin, USA May 19, 2008 A nicely balanced rye. Colour is a clear copper colour with a full light brown head. Taste is firm, acidic and chewy. Dry hop character exploding out of your glass, floral aroma, grass and cloves.
