SDalkoholic (1186), Chula Vista, California, USA May 26, 2007 Purchased in my growler @ the brewery. Initial aroma is a light roasty smell with a hint of chipotle peppers in the background. Pours the same color as the original porter but will create minimum amount of head formation. The flavor is of dark roasted malt that dominates over the light smoked chipotle peppers. Very subtle with just a hint of fiery jalapeno, I guess I expected a stronger kick since it was Stone. wetherel (1565), Encinitas, California, USA May 24, 2007 Bought a growler for trade at Stone, and bought a pint for myself to try. Full head that dies quickly. Dark roasted grain color and flavor that lingers in the back of your mouth for minutes. Could barely tell the chipotle, but maybe it’s clearer with a head-to-head comparison. Good beer, but a little to dry for my taste. kbjames (242), Utah, USA May 18, 2007 I really liked this beer and was able to have it on tap at thier brewery. Surprisngly the chiptole really added some nice kick to it. I prefer this version over the normal smoked porter. badlizard (2324), Berkeley, California, USA May 9, 2007 ON tap at Stone. Smokey and peppery aroma. Smooth smokey porter taste with a dry and peppery finish. brettpace (179), Northridge, California, USA May 6, 2007 Not very spicy, i could barely taste the chipotle. It came through at the end very slightly. WeeHeavySD (2940), San Diego (Hillcrest), California, USA Apr 23, 2007 On draft at Stone World Bistro. Pous black with a thin white head. The aroma is only slightly peppery, and smokey. The taste is robust and dry with a little bit of pepper coming through, I’ve had spicy beer before and this is not spicy what so ever. Well made brew a little thin on the palate but good. jimbowood (947), Athens, Georgia, USA Jan 2, 2007 Tap @ the brewery. Not overpowering chipotle flavor. Possibly needs a little bit more peppery flavor. Very dry finish w/ just a hint of chipotle peppers. SDbruboy (1832), San Diego, California, USA Dec 30, 2006 On draft at Stone World Bistro. Rich ebony color, creamy head with full body and texture. The usual smoked porter goodness, lots of roastiness, bitter chocolate notes and a bit of smokiness, with a burnt pepper bite in the finish. Improves as it warms with more chocolate, coffee and capsicum coming to the fore. Very nice and served as a great compliment to my buffalo burger.
