This was a rich dark gold-colored beer with a thin off white head. The aroma is a bit like horse manure. I kid you not. A quite repulsive fecal smell. I drank it anyway. The flavor was initially sweet and bitter up front, but rapidly disappeared into nothingness. Has a residual mild bitterness at best. The hop bittering flavor is much more burned than citrus. An underwhelming beer. Maybe if I were hallucinating under the influence of tetrahydrocannabinol I would rate it higher. SpringsLicker (2043), Tennessee, USA

Malt dominated aroma with good supportive grapefruit hops.
Malt dominated flavor profile with supportive hop bitterness.
A touch of saltiness detracts somewhat. alexander29 (1), Newport News, Virginia, USA does not count | 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jul 22, 2006 Received as one of the "Beer of the Month" choices. | 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Jul 19, 2006 Bottle - Poured a orangish amber in color with a thick whitish head. Some lacing. Aroma is of yeast, malt and a disappointing amount of hops. Flavor is mildly bitter and fairly non-descript. Little or no hop flavor to go along with the bitterness. Basically flavorless... not a very good effort... also not sure what the other raters were drinking??? NYHarvey (2154), New York, New York, USA

Aroma is a very hearty bread/grain mash that literally smells like a bakery. Dull yellow/gold body with a lasy pinky think white head. Fore is a big dallop of sweet caramel malt with a mild oily feel that I assume is a heavy dose of flavor hops. Whatever it is there isn’t very much in the way of bittering hops, but the beer still has that slightly slick oily feel heavy hopping imparts. More grainy bread in the flavor through the middle. This kind of reminds me of Anchor Small Beer, but with a lot of added caramel sweetness. It’s not IPAish at all as far as bitterness goes. It’s really not bad in what it is, but the flavor range is pretty basic. bigrond (1055), factoryville, Pennsylvania, USA

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Apr 10, 2006 I brought this one home from my Portland Maine trip a couple months ago.
Pours a deep amber / bronze body with a fluffy light khaki colored head. The aroma that most jumps out at me are the boldly sweet grains: tons of cereal, honey and caramel. The flavor brings some spicy cedar wood chips, pinesap, and an odd array of citrus oils… the palate is rather chewy, the body is not lacking in any way…. I can’t say that is was one of my favorite IPA’s, but it’s nice to see a different take with the East Coast IPAs. fluids (364), USA
