Commercial Description:
Brewed after Stone Coast's flagship 420 IPA, 840oz (that's 52.5 lbs) of hops were used. Dry-hopped with Liberty, Mt. Hood, and Tettnang whole hops during 5 weeks of conditioning. In addition whole Chinook hops were added after filtration. Surprisingly well-balanced, and gets better with every sip.

Poured a light copper-golden color. Frothy medium-sized white head. Great hoppy scent. Alcohol extremely well hidden. Creamy English nose and flavor. Finished unbelievably smooth and mildly crisp.

Bottle… This beer rocks!… Cloudy, caramel-colored ale with a mid-sized, creamy, off-white head. Good retention. The malty, earthy aroma is comprised of caramel, guava and a touch of diacetyl. Flavor-wise, sweet caramel gives way to bitter grapefruit rind and a pinch of salt. Full-bodied and creamy with moderate carbonation. The lengthy, bitter-sweet finish dries out in the end. Cheers to ughsmash for this bottle of beer!

Pours a burnt orange, with a light white head. There is some good floral, yeasty hop aroma, with a good dose of malts typical in double IPA’s. Some grapefruit citrus is there too. The flavor was very sharp hops, some sweet caramel and cinnamon, with a mild citrus fruit presence. The hops were big, but not extremely overbearing because themalts seemed to balance it some. Actually, very drinkable, good balance for a double, and tasty.

thank hopscotch! Sweet orange, a little hemp, some honey, with hints of pine in the aroma. Pours amber gold. HOPPY! Big pine flavor, spicy citrus, caramel malts in the background. Nice IIPA!

Courtesy hopscotch. Dark straw color with a thin sheen of white head. Moderate astringent hop aroma, not very strong for a DIPA. Medium-bodied, low carbonation. Mild hop taste with a slightly soapy finish. A good brew, I just wasn’t thrilled with the hop taste.

One of the best IPAs I’ve had. Awesome hoppy flavor and smooth to boot. I’d been to their brewery last spring helping to unload them of the remnants of Sparhawk and tried some of their brews then, but this one is the best yet.

22oz bomber from Ron’s in Farmington. Pours a hazy copper color with a half inch of off-white head. Smells like grapefruit and pine. Tastes primarily citrusy. Like a somewhat bitter orange with some caramel malt to support it. Viscous mouthfeel with only a moderate amount of carbonation. Tasty, but not particularly drinkable. Not bad, but seems kind of one-dimensional to me... An okay beer overall, but I’ve had better examples of the style.

Hazy cloudy orange brown with some chunks and thin white to light cream head. Light bitterness a bit of plasticy bandaids? A bit of floral resin and toast. A bit of dark malt? Confusing, but bitter. Low carbonation. a bit watery, but not too much. Resinous citrusy to floral pine hops. A bit of sweetness, but largely alcohol. Lingering toasty acidity. Good balance but very bitter and not too fruity. More resinous.
