Commercial Description:
Brewed after Stone Coast's flagship 420 IPA, 840oz (that's 52.5 lbs) of hops were used. Dry-hopped with Liberty, Mt. Hood, and Tettnang whole hops during 5 weeks of conditioning. In addition whole Chinook hops were added after filtration. Surprisingly well-balanced, and gets better with every sip.

Orange, lightly tanned head. Subdued hoppy nose of tropical fruits, citrus, and hints of toasted peachy toffee. Well bittered up front, more peachy fruitiness throughout, and just a hint of sweet malt to aim for balance. Full bodied, soft carbonation, dry bitter finish. Not bad, not great...

bottle poured a orange copper color with tons of initial carbination leaving a thick two finger head. the bottle itself had a thick layer of sediment in the bottom and the beer had chunks of hops matter floating about. smell is grapefruit, pine, candy sugar, and light fruits. taste is big on the hop resins, has a caramel middle and a slightly bitter finish. the hops definitely dominate the beer, slight fruit notes, seems to be a good dose of caramel malts in the background that give the beer a thick consistency. definitely a lot of everything in this beer, just has a certain bitterness i cant get away from, and the chunks were a bit on the heavy side.

Bomber. Cloudy amber with a fluffy light tan head. Nice, thick lace. Sweet, bold nose of pine resin and rich caramel, some grapefruit. Somewhat sweet flavor, herbal flavors, pine and grapefruit. Light caramel notes, some biscuity breadiness. Nice bitter herbal finish. Well done.

Tons of pine resin. A good bit of caramel and toffee drive this flavor (perfect example of how malt can define hop flavor). Still, malt is missing here. Not very sweet, and lacking body. Bitterness is moderate, but proper given the lack of sweetness. A good bit overcarbonated. Tasty, but lacking complexity and nuance. Clearly flawed. Doesn’t stand up to the precedent set by it’s little brother.

Pours a muddy amber colour with an off-white head with good retension, fading to a solid cap. The nose is off ripe grapefruit, sugar, cucumber and not much malt. The flavour reveals what little malts are there, with the same grapefruit and candied sugar found in the nose, with an aftertatse that brings out the piney, bitter hop quality. This is what a good Imperial IPA tastes like. The palate round and long. It is truly drying and intense. Wahoo.

Pours a a rich amber colour with an medium offwhite head. Aroma of grapefruit hops, heavy citrus (lemon, orange). Initial taste is a sweet malt that heavily overlayed with with a grapefruit hops. Finishing with bittter hops on the palate. Great palate duration. Great head retention and nice lacing of the glass. A great IPA.
