| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jul 2, 2008 Pretty close to black. Aroma is molassesy, slightly fruity with a hint of roastiness. Rich molasses, some light burnt cashew notes. Very slight fruitiness. Big chewy rich molassesy finish, again with a hint of acridity from the roast, almost like a roast chicory. argo0 (7035), Washington DC, USA

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Feb 17, 2008 Objectively speaking:
Roasty, but never dry, syrupy tropical stout.
I like:
Smooth carbonation. Vanilla undertones. Lacy head. Liquorice complexity.
I dislike:
Beany coffee grain notes. Syrupy palate.

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 30, 2007 Bottle... Clear burnt-orange ale with a small white head. Good retention. My nose pulls stale coffee and milk chocolate from the glass along with lesser notes of sorghum, toasted almonds and cashews. Burnt, bitter flavor with very little residual sweetness. Medium to full-bodied with a creamy mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Lengthy, bitter, charcoal finish. Cheers to Beerlando for sharing his bottle! CaptainCougar (5545), Rockville, Maryland, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 5, 2007 Pours a barely transparent dark mahogany with a spotty-lacing light tan head. Aroma has a nice dark caramel sweetness with some bittersweet chocolate and dark fruity complexity. Body starts with good earthy dark chocolate complexity well balanced with some earthy bittering hops and lightly roasted malt toward a rich, dark chocolatey finish. A nice and true to style foreign stout. MartinT (5080), Montreal, Quebec, Canada
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 23, 2007 My Bottom Line:
Deep molasses develop fruitiness alongside the cooperating roastiness in this authentic Foreign Stout.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A thin veil of foam skirts the mauve-tinged blackness.
-The overt molasses/caramel malt sweetness is indeed redolent of those Caribbean-brewed stouts, so they’ve hit the nail right on the head here, methinks.
-The finish is a pleasant combination of this prolific sweetness and its drying roasted malt companion.
-The fruitiness mostly recalls raisins and cherries to me.
-The body is full and chewy; this is a rich pint.
