K and I have a nice little history with this brew. went to the stone bistro and got growlers full on a san diego trip. just had a keg of it at our wedding reception. yet somehow hadn’t managed to rate it. so... hazy gold pour with a thinnish bright white head. nice blend of piney citrus hops and honey in the aroma. crisp hop bitterness right away. nearly perfect chewy light to medium texture. caramel malts back things up a bit - but this is all about the hops. great stuff. good times. smcolw (350), Wayland, Massachusetts, USA
| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 10/10 | 4/5 | 19/20 | Apr 10, 2009 Golden in color, slightly cloudy in clarity, this brew lent itself to an awesome two-finger, cream colored head. The aroma is excellently balanced between the flowery (not bitter) hop and the coy, slightly sweet malt. Interestingly, this beer tasted opposite of most--the hop was up front followed by malt. The beer was balanced throughout the tasting.
This is a full body ale with wonderful carbonation. This may be the best IPA I’ve ever enjoyed. I am drawn to getting another even though I prefer variety. espenra (292), Oslo, Norway

The aroma is hoppy with notes of citrus and melon. The flavour is fresh and hoppy with notes of citrus and melon. It has a short aftertaste. gorditoabd (174), San Diego, California, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Apr 10, 2009 Pours a beautiful amber with a medium head that dissolves to a lasting lace film. Aroma is hoppy citrus and pine(?). Taste is full-on smoothe... bitter lemoniness (yep, it’s a word) with an excellent finish that just leaves me wanting another swig. Good stuff. | 4.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Apr 9, 2009 Phenomenal stuff from Stone. Pours that golden amber you’re looking for in an IPA but lacks some of the sediment and cloudiness. However, aroma and flavor more than make up for it. Huge hits of lemon citrus and bitter pine assault the nostrils while your tastebuds are just trying to hold on for the ride. Perfect smooth, clovery bitter-hop finish. Amongst the top of the class in IPA. mrbirmingham (37), Kansas, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Apr 7, 2009 Aroma: I can smell the pine trees in this beer. There are hints of grassy and maybe some citrus notes.
Appearance: It’s clear, medium gold with a tall white head. The head crashed quickly leaving thick lacing in the glass (gorgeous).
Flavor: It’s a hop forward taste. The initial bitter bite carries through the tasting experience. I can taste the malt, but the flavor is balanced towards the hops.
Mouth feel: It has a medium body
Overall Impression: This is definitely an IPA; the hops smack me in the taste buds. I was surprised aroma was not stronger (the hops seem muted) until I looked at the “Enjoy By” date and it read 03/31/09. This was a bit surprising as I purchased the beer in mid-March (09). I guessing the hop aroma diminished over time. Even being old, I am still enjoying the beer.
