Braudog (3463), Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates Aug 26, 2002 A ’hoppy little beer!’ A beaut of a beer for all IPA lovers ... Well done!
Praetorian (57), Los Angeles, California, USA Oct 6, 2008 Amber in color with a tiny, off white head with little to no lacing. The aroma is of citrus, hops, and caramel. The flavor is very hoppy and bitter throughout with notes of citrus and an orange peel finish. The palate is syrupy. Overall I’d say its a good IPA, not as good as Stone’s Ruination IPA, but nothing to be scoffed at. Very enjoyable. tarheels86 (37), Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA Oct 6, 2008 Bottle. Found at Tyler’s Bottle Shop. Pours a clear gold with moderate carbonation and a medium, white head. Pretty much all around the Ruination times 0.5. Even though I enjoy it a little less, in terms of everyday drinking this is more palatable. The hops insanity is very much toned down here allowing you to enjoy the citrus aroma a little more. The body is smoother and the aftertaste more neutral in contrast to the Ruination’s twenty minute lingering bitterness. For 70 IBU’s this is pretty sweet and creamy- no hops onslaught like you would expect. Chipper (66), Red Lion, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 6, 2008 Clear amber with a moderate off white head. Hoppy aroma with a hint of citrus. Flavor is very smooth, hoppy, and dry. Another great beer from Stone. JCastner (38), New York, USA Oct 4, 2008 Pours a light copper with faint white head. Fantastic appearance. Aroma is of caramel, some fruit (esters at play), and plenty of American citrusy, resiny goodness. Medium body. Taste is of several varieties of sweet malt, followed by the flavor of American hops. Notice I didn’t say bitterness. Although over 70 IBUs, the flavor takes center stage. A great example of how flavoring hops should be used. One of my favorites.
A_R (318), Georgia, USA Oct 4, 2008 This is a good IPA. Not only were the hops not biting, but there was a solid malt base that lingers in the aftertaste.
