Chestnut coloured beer, huge and creamy lasting tan head. Nice aroma of caramel, spices and dark fruits. Rich and full mouthfeel. The flavour is malty, rich and sweet, with loads of spices - but I’d have trouble identifying which ones, if I didn’t know. I would also have guessed that there was some aniseed or liquorice in there. There is a distinct hoppy bitterness and more spices in the finish. Interesting stuff! KnutAlbert (3139), Oslo, Norway

Reddish brown beer, little carbonation. Spicy, pepper, nutmeg, vanilla. Quite sweet, but nice dry finish. Somehow I expected more. guyinchicago (528), marengo, Illinois, USA

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 1, 2009 My Bottom Line:
Rye spiciness and juniper fruitiness float atop the firm toasted malt sweetness, as alcohol heat and potent hop bitterness seal this frothy sipper.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A veil of foam covers the misty mahogany.
-Some roasted malts join in the fun.
-The fruitiness is also akin to pomegranate juice or red currants.
-The spicy, sweet nose does not presage this brew’s relative dryness.
Bottle.
