I had trouble placing the actually spices and it wasn’t until i read the bottle that it made sense. The flavor is of a belgian that was been attacked by the spice cabinet. It caught me a little off guard. The sage was the only one that I could really identify in the flavor. While it is a very interesting beer and I’m glad to have tried it, it was far from my favorite. ucusty (1915), Wake Forest, North Carolina, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Jan 9, 2009 Dark brown pour with garnet highlights. Fluffy white head and drippy honey comb lace. The sage and juniper berries really show them self on the aroma. Spicy phenolic flavor with was a little too overpowering for my taste buds. A creative attempt at a unique style. beerinmarch (2829), Washington, USA

I don’t see it listed in the ingredients, but big pesto note to it. Dry and herbal, long spicy finish over the sweeter toasty malt base. Dark red/brown body with a tall off-white head. Funky herbal beer, kinda Fantome like. Very soft tart note, could have stood to be a touch more sour/tart, but delicious none-the-less. nhorween (640), Chicago, Illinois, USA

Smells great - pie spices, vanilla, caramel, burnt sugar, hops. I wouldn’t have said I smelled caraway until I read the description, but it’s there, and really well (surprisingly to me) integrated. Flavor is similar, excellent bitterness, and a much more nutty character comes through, along with some bittersweet chocolate. I drank it just below room temp, so it’s tasting really sweet to me. Seltzery and bitter aftertaste. Far off funkiness and some perceptible yeasty character. Well done. kegbear (273), Orange, California, USA

It’s almost like Stone brewing brought the hops and Jolly Pumpkin brought the wacky yeast and the spices... Unfortunately, I don’t know Nogne-o well enough to tell what they brought to the beer. The aroma is great, very herbal, sort of like gruit. The taste has a subtle maltiness that is hopped like a true Stone beer. Buy it. rocbyter (925), Waterbury, Connecticut, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jan 7, 2009 Bottle at Mugs in Brooklyn. Home brew yeast aroma with hints of sage. I brewed a beer that smelled like this with lemon grass and dandelion. Clear amber color with a small tan head. Lightly bitter spices that fades in the finish. I like the idea of this beer but could use some refining.
