Aroma of cinnamon, ginger, and pine needles. Mouthfeel is surprisingly thick. Flavor is pretty good, with tons of spices, dark fruit, and sweet malt. Finish is slightly bitter and warming. Very nice take on the holiday style.

A strong aromatic nose of spices, juniper, and nuts. Rich creamy mouthfeel and a solid body. The flavor is very sweet and malty and with herbal spices. Spicy finish. Quite a brew. | 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Dec 11, 2009 Bottle taken home from RnH. I love the fantasy font on the side... triple the breweries, triple the brewmasters, triple the Beer! Pour is a deep chestnut brown. Nose is sweet malts, sugar, juniper, spice, and belgian yeast. Mouth feel is sticky.. you can really taste the juniper, chestnuts, brown sugar, and oat... some blueberry suggestions as well. Incredibly balanced and delicious. Very fun and festive brew. Ron Jeffries from JP has a signature on the bottle the "Haiku Master"... lol agl108 (509), Manayunk, Pennsylvania, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Dec 7, 2009 12 oz. bottle courtesy of lamas. Poured gorgeous mahogany with khaki head that left several sheets of lace. Flavor starts with sweet caramel, chocolate, and vanilla. A roasty, nuttiness comes next. Finished with a mildly bitter, citrusy hoppiness. BIG and toasty malts come across huge with this one. Unbelievably rich and smooth. Maybe the most complex beer I’ve ever tried. Some warming alcohol present throughout as well. Underrated...’Special’ holiday ale is right!

Aroma was lots of diffferent spices, the juniper really comes out in the nose on thise one. It is also roasted as well. Flavor was spicey, alcohol warmth and a nice roasted nuts finish. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 2/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 4, 2009 12 oz bottle. Pours like coke, no head really, similar color. Nose is maple syrup, treacle sweetness, musty herbs. Rather sweet, junipers and sage jump out on the palate, finishes with some warmth and rooty hops. Not sure why it took three breweries to make this, but a nice winter ale. wavers1 (171), novato, California, USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 1, 2009 Honey golden with a little bit of a head on it. Powerful juniper notes are first noticed as well as a cloved spice hint. Some herby, almost ginger-ish aromas mingling with citrus and green apple smells. Fairly sparkly body with a more subdued spice profile and a touch sweeter and must to taste, barnyard, a little funk. Pretty solid and going in a lot of different directions for sure. Pretty potent as well. GG (1646), NorCal, California, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 19, 2009 Really suprised at how much this smelled like my recent pumpkin beer, which I had heaping amounts of pumpkin pie spice and nutmeg. Off the original pour, lots of clove and nutmeg. Beautiful, beautiful pour....viscuous, mahogany brown..huge 3" head in my Maudite glass. I could only pour about half and the rest was taken by the head. Stunning lacing clinging to the glass. After it warms up, spruce tips, some Southern Comfort, the caraway seed, fruit cake spices, and some sweet licorice. Crazy insane aroma, that seems all over yet together. Flavor has some nice toasted malts, gingery, medium piney-bitterness (chewing on needles), spiced earth, and rye. This beer was gone before I knew it. Very well done and very enjoyable.
