BasharTeg (5), USA does not count May 14, 2008 What is there to say about this? It’s a glorious taste that cannot be described in "wine" terms. wetherel (1033), Carlsbad, California, USA Dec 1, 2007 On tap at Stone’s 2007 Double Bastard Night. Listed as 2007 Double Bastard with Oak Chips on CASK. Another tap was labeled 2006 French Oak Barrel Aged. I didn’t want to enter too many variations so this category will lump some together. Great fluffy cask head. Great mouthfeel. Small bubbles all over the place. Cloudy dark amber color. Very, very drinkable. Not bitter. Mild aroma. Least bitter of the double bastards, and my favorite of them all (by 0.1-0.2 points). Sweet. Excellent. Double Bastard is one of my favorite beers. I have been collecting and aging these. I now have 04,05,06, and 07. Tasted with kp, eyedrinkale, oodeftone (on BA), and darkelf. carl4beer (284), Fairfax Station, Virginia, USA Aug 6, 2008 Draft at stone. 2006 on french oak. pours a ruddy brown with little to no head. aroma is a bit sweet with a hint of wood. mouthful is less sweet but with all the double bastard flavors. finish is dry and has a lingering mouthful of wood. great aging of the DB!! 505 (271), Echo Park, California, USA Dec 17, 2007 I like this beer a lot, on tap at 2007 SD SAF. Like the normal double bastard, but somewhat dulled down hoppiness, and nice vanilla oakiness. nightrider (242), encinitas, California, USA Dec 2, 2007 Tasted at the Strong ale fest in Carlsbad. Listed as 2006 DB Oak Chipped.Beautiful deep reddish brown with a small whitehead. Rich aromas of toffee caramel malt. Silky on the palate. Flavors are deep and complex with sweet malt and hops. Not overpowering bitterness. Excellent longevity in your mouth. The oak is subtle in the background and adds just another complex accent. My favorite beer of the night.Prefered this over the 2000 and 2002 tasted at the Stone DB night last week.Excellent.
