| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Nov 7, 2009 06 vintage at blind lady during sd beer week: pours beautiful...dark cream/tan head...lacey as fuck atop a opaque orange tinted body..orgasmic nose of wood, vanilla, aged malt and booze. Creamy flavors bursting with vanilla and oak, whipped cream, slight anise, pinch of cocoa powder, and candy...sweet, creamy, delightful beer candy. Seriously, stone should discontinue every one of their beers and just sell this, in great quantities.

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Nov 13, 2009 Sampled on cask @ Papago. Didn’t come close to living up to expectations. The traditional Double Bastard is so tasty, wanted additional complexity and it missed the mark. Aroma and flavor possess more wood when warmed but not the brown sugar, vanilla, and dark fruit that the original expressed. Nice 1/2 inch latte head sits above a garnet body but he carbonation in the mouth is lacking. Good not great. rustychiles (1057), Mesa, Arizona, USA

Hazy amber in color with a medium cream-colored head and good lacing aroma. Aroma is oak, citrus hops, caramel, and toffee. Flavor is oaky with loads of caramel malt, toffee, and brown sugar, along with some dark fruits and vanilla. Very tasty. Palate is medium-full with lively carbonation. Not boozy in the least. An incredible beer overall. tokyogoat (543), San Diego, California, USA

Pours a hazy amber with big creamy tan head.

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jul 12, 2009 1st rating I guess! On tap at Hamilton’s 2nd Saturday. Pours a rich amber. Hop bitterness hits first and then fades to a sweet caramel. The French Oak really builds up as your drink this one and almost gets to the point where it last like you liked the inside of the barrel. Mouth is really smooth, a little hop. The Oak adds a nice layer to the already good DB. Ungstrup (15338), Frederiksberg, Denmark

Draft at Stone Bistro as Double Bastard French Oak. An amber beer with a thin beige head. The aroma has notes of sweet malt, caramel, and oak. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, caramel, oak, and over ripe fruits. Thick body.
