2008 Bottle. Orange colour with an off-white head. Malty, sweet, alcohol, caramel, almonds, fruits, grapefruity hops, bitter finish. A bit too much alcohol and bitterness for me. Probably better with age.

22oz. Pours a hazy amber brown and a medium white head. Aroma is great, big malt body ad hops, piny notes. Taste is complex deep, evolving, and nicely balanced. Great, thick, complex palate. I am really enjoying this guy. Today I an the RB DD, whoo hoo !

This is one big, complex bw. I am drinking a 22 oz. Bomber vintage 2009 that begins with big malt but finishes with a nice crisp hoppiness that sets it apart from other barleywine style ales. It is not sickly sweet like minor league bw’s. Although it is malty sweet with caramel in the forefront the dryness of the hops creates a relatively balanced beer that is big, thick and heavy. Truly, a great ale.

A well aged 22oz from 2007. Beautiful caramel toffee nose. Pours a lovely deep amber with a small head that dissipates quickly. Wow. What a chewy palette. Still a little boozy but the perfumed hoppiness contrasted by a floral note and a great, full malt backing give this so much presence. Exceedingly well balanced and getting better and better with age. Glad I waited to resample this after a few years. Yes!

Daytona 500 tasting. Bomber, early 2006 vintage. I remember trying this fresh and hating it, so I didn’t rate it at the time. Glad I stowed a few bottles - this is WAY better now! Clear orange with almost no head. Resiny nose, peachy and some booze. Flavor has really mellowed out and become dry - bready and floral, more pine. Nice!

The color was cloudy, peachy, brass. The head was thin, creamy, and off-white. The aroma was apricot, hoppy, sweet, and alcohol. The flavor was hoppy, sweet, waxy/bitter

"Early 2007" Vintage; courtesy of HomeBrewHawk. Pours a deep golden orange-copper with a creamy ecru head. The nose is a nice blend of perfumy, floral, citric and evergreen hop notes over a warm, round, fruity malt. Medium-bodied and soft on the tongue, it turns a bit prickly and fairly bitter at the finish. The flavor is of sweet, round malt with the same blend of hop notes found on the nose. This stuff is quite tasty. Thanks again for the bottle, Pete!

22oz bottle poured into tulip Pours an orange blossom golden color with a thin sudsy head. Head leaves nice lacing with scattered bubbles. Smells mostly of hops, no real fruit smells. Taste is heavy on the hops, but washes away with a nice and very light caramel flavor with light peach colored fruits. This is extremely drinkable for a barleywine, mainly because it isnt overly sweet or cloying. Easily in my top 3 fav barleywines. Its a slam dunk like every year.
