2006 release. Pours amberish. Caramel maltiness and toffee smell. Very strong alcohol taste, but not unpleasant. Hops were very citrusy. Dark fruitiness as well.

Wow what a brew. Pours a wonderful bronze color with a white forming head. Great taste of grapes and spice. Bit bitter hops. Good look, smooth, and greeat taste.

2009 Version. Had a wonderful color to it like a great CA sunset. Not for the faint of heart by anymeans but does hide its ABV nicely. Aroma lent itself more towards the fruit side.

500 mL 2009 version. Pours a translucent amber color with a massive two-finger cream head that settles down to nice layer and leaves sheety lacing. Huge aroma of spicy alcohol, barley, caramel malt, wet bittering hops, strawberries, peaches, apricots, candied fruits. Taste upfront is powerful grapefruit like a double IPA with piney hops but then moves to brasil and hazelnut. Full-bodied, creamy mouthfeel. Finishes dry and bitter with a long aftertaste of hazelnut and walnuts. 11.26% is very well hidden by the massive malt backbone and crazy amount of balancing hops. This is truly excellent. Would like to cellar one but this is so good fresh from the tanks that I would rather enjoy them right now.

Bottle of the 2009 vintage on 02/20/2009. A cloudy amber color with a foamy off-white head. Peach, apple and grapefruit aroma with a fresh hop finish. Unlike many barley wines the aroma does not give into the high abv. Smooth caramel, dry, and bitter, with a nice long finish with a touch of sweetness. This one is young but very enjoyable.

Bomber, pours an amber color. Caramel aroma. Nice sweet taste with hops. Has a thick feel. Quaffable alcohol not noticable.

Definitely will put hair on your chest. Extremely bitter. Sunset orange in color. Citrus-like in flavor, like a pink grapefruit. Worth trying for barleywine enthusiasts.

On tap at Toronado for Barleywine fest ’09. 2009 vintage. Amber color with a nice off-white head. Aroma and flavor are not too unlike Arrogant Bastard - sweet dark malt and piney citrusy hop nose. Like the bastard, hop character is outstanding. Malty, hoppy, flavor with citrus and alcohol. Fairly full mouthfeel.
